About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) document establishing salient characteristics for a Passive Acoustic Counter-Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-sUAS) Sensor System, with the Discovair array G2+ manufactured by Squarehead Technology identified as the reference product or equivalent.
The procurement requires a passive acoustic sensor system capable of detecting, classifying, and tracking Group 1 and Group 2 unmanned aircraft systems based on sound signatures without emitting radio frequency signals. Essential technical specifications include: minimum 500-meter detection range for Group 1 UAS under optimal conditions; individual sensor units with IP65 or higher ingress protection ratings; minimum 100-degree field of view in both azimuth and elevation per sensor; system capability to network four or more sensors for distributed site coverage and target localization; man-portable sensor units not exceeding 10 kilograms each; ability to provide target location data (azimuth and elevation) over standard IP networks; and operational resilience in environments with RF jamming, electromagnetic interference, GNSS denial, and congested spectrum conditions. The product must be Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliant. Additional desired capabilities include detection and classification of Group 1-3 UAS, accurate geolocation and tracking, minimal operator training requirements, expeditionary environment operation, integration with existing C-sUAS sensors and command-and-control systems including Gov ATAK-compatible architectures, and low false alarm rates in cluttered operational environments.

352 SOW C-sUAS Salient Characteristics
Item: Passive Acoustic C-sUAS Sensor System
P/N and/or Description: Discovair array G2+ or Equal
Manufacturer: Squarehead Technology or Equal
In order to be considered technically acceptable as "equal" to the brand name specified, a product must meet the following essential (salient) characteristics:
1. Detection Method: The system must be a passive acoustic sensor that detects, classifies, and tracks unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) based on their sound signature. The system must not emit any radio frequency (RF) signals as part of its detection process.
2. Target Classification: The system must be capable of detecting and classifying both Group 1 and Group 2 UAS.
3. Environmental Durability: The individual sensor unit must have an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of IP65 or higher, ensuring it is dust-tight and protected from water jets.
4. Operational Resilience: The system is expected to operate effectively in environments where both friendly and adversary RF activity may be present. This includes GNSS denial/degradation, RF jamming, electromagnetic interference, and congested spectrum conditions commonly associated with Counter-sUAS operations. The desired solution should maintain detection and tracking capabilities despite these conditions.
5. Detection Range: The system must be capable of detecting a Group 1 UAS (e.g., DJI Mavic or similar) at a minimum range of 500 meters under optimal, low-noise environmental conditions.
6. Sensor Field of View: Each individual sensor unit must provide a minimum detection field of view of 100 degrees in azimuth and 100 degrees in elevation.
7. System Scalability: The requirement for networking four sensors are intended to establish a minimum operational baseline to support distributed site coverage and improved target localization. Solutions capable of supporting additional sensors are desirable. Systems supporting fewer than four sensors would likely not satisfy the operational requirement.
8. Target Data Output: The ability to provide target location information, including azimuth and elevation, over a standard IP network is preferred to facilitate integration with existing and future command-and-control systems. Proprietary formats may be acceptable provided they can be readily integrated into common operating picture platforms and do not require extensive custom development.
9. Portability: The system must be man-portable. The weight of a single, ruggedized sensor unit shall not exceed 10 kg (22 lbs). The weight threshold of 10 kg or less per sensor is intended to support rapid deployment and employment by a single operator in both fixed-site and expeditionary environments. Slightly heavier systems may be considered if they remain man-portable and do not significantly impact operational mobility.
10. Compliance: The product must be Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliant.
