About this file
This document is a Memorandum from the 3rd Munitions Squadron (3 MUNS) of the 3rd Wing (PACAF) at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, requesting a Salient Characteristic for the ZUMRO Model 400 Shelter System.
The memorandum states that 3 MUNS Combat Plans and Training requires rapidly deployable, all-weather shelter systems for working with sensitive equipment in austere environments. The ZUMRO Model 400 Shelter System is identified as meeting the required characteristics, which include: a large enough footprint to house munition storage containers up to 15' long and 90" high, space for maintenance tables and equipment, quick setup with limited personnel, adequate lighting, and the ability to withstand hot, cold, rain, wind, snow, and sand. The shelter system must also be transportable on a single 463L pallet for agile combat employment. The POCs for any questions are TSgt Joshua Gates and SSgt Evan Masison.
The related Federal Contract Opportunity is for "MUNS Mobility Tents" with Solicitation Number F1W2A44200AW03, issued by the Department of the Air Force Pacific Air Forces (PACAF).

DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
3rd WING (PACAF)
JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, ALASKA
8 August 2024
MEMORANDUM FOR 673 CONS
FROM: 3 MUNS/MXWKB
SUBJECT: ACE Mobility Tent Salient Request
1. 3 MUNS Combat Plans and Training requires rapidly deployable, all weather shelter systems for working with sensitive equipment in austere environments. Weather conditions at ACE locations are unknown, and these structures will provide a covered space for sensitive test equipment as well as an area that maintenance can be performed even during inclement weather.
The ZUMRO Model 400 Shelter System is ideal for being able to deploy quickly and to allow necessary maintenance and testing to occur in ACE environments.
2. The ZUMRO Model 400 Shelter System can be deployed quickly and provides a highly usable space, sheltered from inclement weather. The structures must be large enough to house sensitive equipment as well as have room for maintenance activities to be performed. The following are characteristics required in the design:
a. Weather shelter must have a large enough footprint to house munition storage containers measuring up to 15’ in length and stacked up to 90” in height.
b. Must have space for tables and munitions test sets and composite tool kits for maintenance activities.
c. Set up with limited personnel is mandatory.
d. Adequate lighting required to support maintenance actions.
e. System must be rated to withstand multiple environments: both hot and cold, and abilities to provide shelter from rain, wind, snow, and sand.
f. Shelter system must be able to be transported on a single 463L pallet for agile combat employment. Must take up minimum pallet position on aircraft due to mission constraints.
3. Please direct any questions or concerns to TSgt Joshua Gates or SSgt Evan Masison at DSN 551-0860.
