Specifications for (1720) Small Vertical CNC Vertical Lathe

Provide all materials, labor, and equipment necessary to provide a new fully functional CNC Vertical Lathe.

Refurbished or remanufactured parts are not authorized for this requirement.

Machine construction o Base, Bed and Headstock shall be Meehanite Cast Iron o Protective covers on all guideways o Integral chip conveyor and coolant tank o Hardened and ground box ways on X and Z Axis.

X, Y and Z axis box ways and column mounting surfaces must be hand scraped.

o Mist Collector

Table o Maximum turning diameter shall be at least 29”.

o Maximum turning length shall be at least 30”.

o 30HP Continuous Main Table motor minimum.

o Table shall be 3 jaw hydraulic chuck.

o Maximum chuck speed at least 2000 RPM for turning.

Milling Capabilities o At least 5HP continuous motor o Max RPM at least 4000.

o X, Z & C Axis profile milling capability including simultaneously milling.

Helical cutting X, C and Z to allow all 3 axis to mill at the same time.

Turret o Minimum 12 Position Turret o Each station shall be capable of ID, OD, or milling work.

o All stations shall have coolant for each position.

o Include the below milling heads:

Radial mill units (quantity of 3), if required Axial mill units (quantity of 3), if required o Quantity of 4 standard OD tool holders

Ram o X travel at least 13” o Z travel at least 30” o X & Z Axis mounting hardware for ball nuts and lead screws shall be hand scraped.

o X Axis ball screw shall be 40mm diameter or larger.

o Z Axis ball screw shall be 55mm diameter or larger.

Controls o Spindle, Feed, and rapid traverse override o Machine shall be capable of the following:

Helical mill threading Real 3D simulation Variable spindle speed control Profile milling Load monitor on spindle and axis o Manufacturers latest version with 10” minimum Color LCD o Controls cabinet shall be cooled o Minimum 1MB Memory o DNC Capability o Programming should be compatible with Windows based operating systems o Minimum 120GB memory, Minimum 100GB program storage, 2MB of RAM memory for CNC

Controls o Controls equipped with conversational programming capability o AC Digital Servo & Spindle Drivers o Data Server 256MB (DNC) min.

o Remove / Disconnect Wi-Fi o Ethernet Connectivity

General o Spindle bearing cooling.

o Thermal growth compensator.

o Auto Lubrication system.

o Internal coolant tank o Chip removal conveyor to dispense in rear of machine.

o Renishaw Part Probe and Tool Setter o Machine size not to exceed:142” H x 108” W x 156” D. Allowed area is 150” H x 120” W x

220” D.

Accuracy o Accuracy for X shall be equal to or less than .0006/4”.

o Accuracy for Z shall be equal to or less than .001/12”.

o Repeatability for X & Z Axis shall be .0002.”

o Accuracy for Turret shall be equal to or less than +1.6 ARC seconds.

2 Microns per station.

Contractor shall provide:

o Machine shall include lifting, leveling, and floor attachment hardware. Rigging will be handled by AEDC.

o Quote shall include the standard tooling package including retainers applicable for this machine.

To Include Kennametal Tooling Voucher of $15,000.

o Machine shall be built to NFPA 70 and operate with AEDC power system which is 480V, 3PH, 60HZ or quote package should include step down transformer to machine operation voltage.

o Operation Manual, Electrical Manual, Maintenance Manual & Schematics.

o Provide name and phone number of up to 3 facilities presently using this machine.

o Post Processor for Esprit CAM software, or Espirit Voucher. NAS is a current user.

o When quoting, provide floor plan and foundation requirements.

Verification o After delivery the Contractor shall test run the machine at the site in accordance with functional tests for accuracy required by ISO/ANSI Standards.

Warranty o This machine shall be warranted against any defects in material, parts, and workmanship for 24 months after the date of installation. The control, servomotors and main spindle motor are warranted against defects in material, parts, and workmanship for 24 months after the date of installation.

Maintenance, Parts, and Service o The Contractor shall have the capability to service the equipment (labor and parts) beyond the warranty period, or the equipment shall be able to be serviced by a local qualified representative.

The Contractor or representative shall be capable of responding to a repair service call on-site within 36 hours and repair parts delivery within 48 hours after placement of order.

o Vendor to provide service technician locations. Minimum of 2 certified service techs within a 100-mile radius of AEDC required.

o Please provide replacement part warehouse location(s) and availability. Must have minimum of one location in the continental US.

o Must have local and/or onsite training options for continuing education.

Installation/Training o Installation will be at the Arnold Air Force Base, TN; Arnold Engineering Development

Complex’s Model Shop, West Shop, Building 451. Installation of the machine shall be accomplished by AEDC personnel and supervised by factory trained servicemen. This service shall be included in machine cost. Installation kit is to be provided in machine cost. Three-day initial training on machine features and operation shall be done beginning at machine startup following machine installation and should be included in machine cost. Additional support required as needed.
