LOT NUMBER INSTRUCTIONS

Delivery/shipment requires a unique identifier, commonly referenced as a “Lot Number”, which shall be listed on the receiving documentation and noted as such.

Example CRA22D001-001 **Required.

**CRA = Crane/Manufacture’s identification.

**22 = Year production/manufacturing started.

**D = Month production/manufacturing started.

001 Inter-fix / 001 Sequence – 1st lot in production run.

/ 002 2nd lot in production run.

002 Inter-fix / 001 if there are significant changes e.g. process(es) or raw material manufacturer.

Reference: Lot number format per MIL-STD-1168.

1. Manufacturer’s identification symbol.

1. Two (2) digit numeric code identifying the year of production.

1. A single alpha code signifying the month of production.

1. Lot inter-fix number.

1. Lot sequence number.

1. Ammunition lot suffix (the alpha suffix).

4.1.3 Month of production. Each ammunition lot number commencing with the first lot produced, assembled or modified shall have the month of production inserted after the two (2) digit code identifying the year of production. The month of production is a single alpha code assigned as follows:

5.4 Exceptions to use of certain letters as ammunition lot

suffixes.
