STATEMENT OF WORK

EMERGENCY VEHICLE (COMMAND VEHICLE) BUILD-UP SANTA MONICA MOUNTAINS

NRA

OBJECTIVE:

Build-up command vehicle for Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (SAMO) wildland fire program duty officer, battalion chief.

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE:

Work shall occur as soon as possible; peak fire season is generally July through December and wildland fire activity is more frequent for this period. Therefore, having this project completed by peak field season is critical.

BACKGROUND:

Santa Monica Mountains NRA (SAMO) retains wildland fire protection responsibility for federal lands within the recreation area boundary. This requires qualified staff to perform in the role of

Duty Officer and maintain availability and coverage for emergency incident response twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The Duty Officer is responsible to respond to wildland fire incidents and other emergencies within and threatening federal lands and to support our federal partners and local cooperators.

Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area maintains a limited fleet of specialized wildland firefighting equipment with little to no capacity for reserve equipment that meets the standard specifications or needs to engage in wildland firefighting. The National Park Service is the primary governmental entity responsible for providing many emergency services within the boundaries of the Santa Monica Mountains NRA, including wildland fire protection, law enforcement, search and rescue, and emergency medicine. It is therefore vital to the protection of lives, property, and resources within SAMO that all emergency vehicles (including wildland fire apparatus) are in proper working order and function properly to allow for immediate safe deployment of equipment and the emergency personnel.

SCOPE OF WORK:

Complete fire command vehicle build-up (emergency lights, siren package, reflective striping

NFPA compliant, camper shell and command station).
