Project Title Coal Creek Rockfall Mitigation
1.0 Purpose
Rockfall mitigation and rock removal as identified during the pre-bid meeting on-site by the Engineering Project Manager within the rockfall mitigation area to ensure safe operation of heavy equipment needed to reconstruct National Forest System Road (NFSR) 709 – Coal Creek.
2.0 Scope or Mission
Scope of work includes developing a technical proposal for the safe removal of fractured rock on a rock faces that could dislodge and impact heavy equipment operating below the rock faces that extend over roughly 0.2 miles of road.
The contract includes mitigation of the rocks that present a risk and relocation of the rock removed to a disposal site within 0.70 miles of the current rockfall mitigation location.
Additional Optional rock removal has been identified and will be considered as optional bid items to the removal of the fractured rock on the rock face. Rocks will be disposed of at the same disposal site.

3.0 Period and Place of Performance
The work can be accomplished between Date of Award and July 30th, 2024. Rockfall mitigation work can occur from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Road can be closed for a maximum extent of five (5) days for rockfall mitigation.
4.0 Background
The project is within Gunnison County, Colorado. The mitigation and disposal sites are adjacent to National Forest System Road (NFSR) 709 Coal Creek Road.

5.0 Deliverables / Schedule

Rockfall mitigation / removal to include a rock and debris to approved disposal site. If optional bid items awarded, remove rock(s) and debris to approved disposal site.
No later than five (5) business days before the contract is set to expire

Additional collaboration and planning for proposed road closure will be required.
