Questions to be answered by Design Engineer:
Y N NA
1. Is there an alternate tool or design that could be used to perform this task?
if yes, please explain what and why not used (i.e., cost, time, etc.).
2. Are cracks, voids, weld seams, or other areas where explosives could accumulate eliminated if it is used in and explosive atmosphere?
3. Are all pinch points eliminated so that neither explosive can be pinched or personnel injured?
4. Is the material specified appropriate for explosive atmosphere if used in this environment?
5. Are all Electrical components properly rated for the type of location where it will be used?
7. Are all commercial components specified for use adequately rated for the type of location where it will be used?
8. Does the item have adequate safety interlocks designed (i.e., two-handed controls, etc.)?
9. Is the item strong enough to perform at 150% of intended use (i.e., weight, pressure, etc.)?
10. Is the item designed with ergonomic considerations (i.e., proper height, ?
repetitive movements, proper gripping, line of sight, strength required to operate?
11. Is the item designed for minimal maintenance and does it provide easy access if maintenance is required?
12. Is the item designed to allow lockout/tag out when maintenance is performed?
13. If required, can the item be decontaminated without destroying its intended use?
14. If required, had adequate special fire protection been built into the design?
15. Has the item been designed to interact with other components within the system?
