Budget Guidelines
Amounts. Grants will not exceed $700,000 for the first two years of the grant (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2025). Do not submit a budget that exceeds this limit.
Marketing or advertising. Promotional materials and services (e.g., website design and maintenance, program “swag” such as t-shirts or water bottles, printed or electronic materials, video, photography, etc.) must be specifically tied to recruitment of participants to the pathway or program. Funds must not be used to produce materials that have a singular purpose of increasing awareness of Educator careers or promoting an organization or institution; and must not be more than 10% of the annual grant amount.
Technology. Technology equipment (e.g., laptops, computers, wifi hotspots, printers, tablets, accessories, etc.) may be loaned to program participants or staff, but must remain the property of grantee. Stipends to participants to support access to technology and internet are allowable.
Academic scholarships. Direct financial support for education-focused courses (or courses required for licensure) at community colleges or four-year universities, either as part of an Educator preparation program or as part of a defined pathway into an Educator career is allowable. Scholarship funds must be awarded to participants via an application and evaluation process that reflects an asset-based approach, meaning diversity of thought, culture, and experience are viewed as strengths (for more information: https://teachereducation.steinhardt.nyu.edu/an-asset-based-approach-to-education-what-it-is-and-why-it-matters/). Scholarship recipients must also be provided evidence-based, academic and career support such as Mentorship, paid work experience, professional learning opportunities, etc.
