GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

SECTION 01 11 00 SUMMARY OF WORK

PART 1: GENERAL

1.1 DESCRIPTION:

1. This project replaces roof systems on four (4) separate buildings (with an option to replace the roof system on a fifth separate building) in Redwood National Park.

The existing roofs are asphalt shingle roofing systems placed over plywood sheathing.

Work shall include:

A. Remove asphalt/fiberglass shingles and underlayment.

B. Replacement of any worn or damaged roof sheathing. It is expected that roof decking deterioration will not exceed 10% of roof surface. Contractor will inform Contracting Officer immediately should roof decking replacement be required beyond 10% of roof area. Contractor is responsible for removal of all construction debris.

C. Install Grace brand or equal ice and water shield self-adhesive underlayment conforming to roofing manufactures recommendations to entire roof, and any sidewalls. Trim and flashing will be replaced under this project to match new roofing system.

D. Install new 26 gauge standing-seam metal roofing systems according to roof system manufacturer’s specifications. Roof sheeting must be clean and free of debris and prior roofing fasteners before installation of new roofing system components.

2. The roof of the Hiouchi Dorm is approximately 4,260 square feet. The roof of the

Koesling House is approximately 2,400 square feet. The roof of the Hiouchi Visitor Center is approximately 5,100 square feet. The roof of the Crescent Beach Education Center is approximately 3,106 square feet. The roof of the Crescent Beach Education Center Garage is approximately 762 square feet. All measurements and dimensions are approximate and must be verified in the field. All offerors are highly encouraged to attend the site visit and examine existing conditions before submitting quotes. Any failure of the Contractor to take the actions described and acknowledged in this paragraph will not relieve the Contractor from responsibility for estimating properly the difficulty and cost of successfully performing the work, or for proceeding to successfully perform the work without additional expense to the Government. All offerors will be held to have the same knowledge concerning the site and the on-ground conditions as if they had inspected the job site.

3. All work shall be performed under a single contract.

1.2 LOCATION:

A. Redwood National Park, Hiouchi Area, Crescent City, CA 95531 Maps and park information may be viewed at www.nps.gov/redw.

1-3 CONTRACTOR’S USE OF PREMISES:

A. Construction Camp: Establishment of a camp within the park will not be permitted.

B. Contractor shall at all times conduct their operations to ensure the least inconvenience to the public.

C. Materials storage: Storage of construction materials will be allowed on-site, at a location designated by the Contracting Officer's Representative. Storage of hazardous materials must meet all federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations. On-site storage of the Contractor’s materials does not imply acceptance or protection of them by the Government.

D. Preservation of natural features: Confine all operations to work limits of the project.

Prevent damage to natural surroundings. Provide temporary barriers to protect existing trees and plants and root zones. Restore damaged areas, by repairing or replacing damaged trees and plants, at no additional expense to the Government.

Consult with Contracting Officer and remove agree-on roots and branches that interfere with construction.

3. Do not fasten ropes, cables, or guys to existing trees.

E. Existing Utilities: Contractor shall be responsible for locating and preventing damage to known utilities. If damage occurs, repair utility at no additional expense to the Government.

F. Hauling Restrictions: Comply with all legal load restrictions in the hauling of materials.

G. Contractor must not display signs or advertisements (except those specified herein) on the construction site except with prior approval of the Contracting Officer.

1-4 FIELD VERIFICATION: Field verify all new and existing dimensions affecting the work of this contract before ordering products.

SECTION 01 27 00 DEFINITION OF CONTRACT LINE ITEMS

1-1 DESCRIPTION

A. The intent of this section is to explain, in general, what is and what is not included in a contract line item, and the limits or cut-off points where one item ends, and another begins.

1-1 LIST OF CONTRACT LINE ITEMS

A. Contract Line Item No. 01 – Replace Roof of Hiouchi Dorm

a. This price item consists of all material, labor and equipment necessary to replace the Hiouchi Dorm roof.

SECTION 01 31 00 PROJECT MEETINGS

1-1 PRECONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE

A. Before the start of the project, the Contracting Officer will arrange a meeting with the Contractor to be held at NPS offices at Redwood National Park, Crescent City, CA.

A telephone conference call will be available at the discretion of the Contracting Officer. The meeting agenda will include the following as a minimum:

Correspondence procedures Designation of responsible personnel Labor standards provisions Payroll reports Changes Payments to Contractor Subcontractors Park rules and regulations Accident prevention program (including name of responsible supervisor) Accident reporting Documents required under the contract Recycling program Saturday, Sunday, holiday and night work

SECTION 01 33 23 SUBMITTAL PROCEDURES

1.1 DESCRIPTION: The work of this section consists of submittal requirements before and during construction.

1.2 RELATED REQUIREMENTS: Closeout submittals - Section 01700.

1.3 SHOP DRAWINGS, PRODUCT DATA, AND SAMPLES:

1. General Procedures:

A. As specified in the individual sections, email all submittals to the Contracting Officer’s Representative and cc: Contracting Officer, at least 15 days before need for approval.

Unless a different number is specified, submit three copies of each shop drawing for NPS use and three specimens of each sample. Submit any additional copies that are to be returned.

B. Coordinate all submittals and review them for legibility, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contract requirements. Forward submittals that are related to or affect one another as a package to facilitate coordinated review.

C. List submittals on National Park Service form CM-16 Transmittal form. (A copy of the form is included at the end of this section.) Identify the front of each sheet or item with the submittal and item number.

D. Submittals will not be accepted for review if identification is missing an incorrect number of submittals are submitted, the transmittal form is incorrectly filled out, submittals are not coordinated, or submittals do not show evidence of Contractor's approval.

E. Contracting Officer reserves the right to require submittals in addition to those called for in individual sections.

2. Specific Procedures:

A. Shop Drawings: Identify each copy of shop drawings with contract drawing number in lower right-hand corner.

B. Samples: Samples shall be large enough to clearly illustrate the functional characteristics and full range of color, texture, or pattern.

C. Manufacturers' Literature: Submit only pertinent pages; mark each copy of standard printed data to identify products referenced in specification section.

3. Contracting Officer's Review:

A. After approving submittals, Contracting Officer’s Representative will return one copy to the Contractor, and cc: Contracting Officer.

B. If submittals are not approved, Contracting Officer’s Representative will return one copy to Contractor with reasons for rejection and cc: Contracting Officer. Resubmit, identifying changes.

C. Any orders placed or work done before approval shall be at Contractor's own risk.

1.6 SIMILAR PRODUCTS OR APPROVED EQUAL:

1. For each item proposed as a "similar product or approved equal," submit items required in each section and additional supporting data, including:

A. Drawings and samples as appropriate.

B. Comparison of the qualities of the proposed item with that specified.

C. Changes required in other elements of the work because of the substitution.

D. Name, address, and telephone number of vendors plus Manufacturer's literature regarding installation, operation, and maintenance, including schematics for electrical and hydraulic systems, lubrication requirements, and parts lists.

2. No pre-bid approvals will be made. Any submittal of a "similar product" constitutes a representation that the Contractor:

A. Has investigated the proposed item and determined that it is equal or superior in all respects to that specified.

B. Will provide the same warranties for the proposed item as for the item specified.

C. Has determined that the proposed item is compatible with interfacing items.

D. Will coordinate the installation of such item and make all changes required in other elements of the work because of such item.

E. Waives all claims for additional expenses that may be incurred as a result of the use of a

"similar product."

3. New Construction Materials: The Contractor is encouraged to submit for approval products made out of recycled or environmentally responsible material. Every effort will be made by the National Park Service to approve these materials.

CM-16 TRANSMITTAL FORM

SECTION 01 35 23 ACCIDENT PREVENTION

1.1 DESCRIPTION: The work of this section consists of establishing an effective accident prevention program and providing a safe environment for all personnel and visitors.

1.2 SUBMITTALS:

1. Accident Prevention Program: Before on-site work begins, submit for approval an accident prevention program. The Contracting Officer will review the proposed program for compliance with OSHA and project requirements. If the program requires any revisions or corrections, the Contractor shall resubmit the program within 10 days. No progress payments will be processed until the program is approved. The program shall include:

A. Name of responsible supervisor to carry out the program.

B. Weekly and monthly safety meetings.

C. First aid procedures.

D. Outline of each phase of the work, the hazards associated with each major phase, and the methods proposed to ensure property protection and safety of the public, National Park Service personnel, and Contractor's employees. Identify the work included under each phase by reference to specification section or division numbers.

E. Training, both initial and continuing.

F. Planning for possible emergency situations, such as floods, fires, cave-ins, slides, explosions, power outages, and windstorms. Such planning shall take into consideration the nature of construction, site conditions, and degree of exposure of persons and property.

G. Housekeeping: Section 01 56 00.

H. Fire Protection: Section 01 51 13.

2. Submit a report of safety meetings and of inspections.

3. Upon request, submit proof of employees' qualifications to perform assigned duties in a safe manner.

1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE:

1. Clauses entitled "Accident Prevention" and "Permits and Responsibilities" of the General Provisions. In case of conflicts between Federal, state, and local safety and health requirements, the most stringent shall apply. Equipment or tools not meeting OSHA requirements will not be allowed on the project site. Failure to comply with the requirements of this section and related sections may result in suspension of work.

2. Qualifications of Employees:

A. Ensure that employees are physically qualified to perform their assigned duties in a safe manner.

B. Do not allow employees to work whose ability or alertness is impaired because of drugs, fatigue, illness, intoxication, or other conditions that may expose themselves or others to injury.

C. Operators of vehicles, mobile equipment, hoisting equipment, and hazardous plant equipment shall be able to understand signs, signals, and operating instructions, and be capable of operating such equipment. Provide operating instructions for all equipment.

Newly hired operators shall be individually tested by an experienced operator or supervisor to determine if they are capable of safely operating equipment.

1.4 ACCIDENT REPORTING:

1. Reportable Accidents: A reportable accident is defined as death, occupational disease, traumatic injury to employees or the public, property damage by accident in excess of $100, and fires. Within 7 days of a reportable accident, fill out and forward to the Contracting Officer a DI-134 form, which may be obtained from Contracting Officer.

2. All Other Accidents: The Contractor shall report all other accidents to the Contracting Officer as soon as possible and assist the Contracting Officer and other officials as required in the investigation of the accident

PART 2: PRODUCTS

2.1 FIRST AID FACILITIES: Provide adequate facilities for the number of employees and the type of construction at the site.

2.2 PERSONNEL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Meet requirements of NIOSH and MSHA, where applicable, as well as ANSI.

2.3 BARRIERS: Section 01 53 00.

PART 3: EXECUTION

3.1 EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS: Post telephone numbers and reporting instructions for ambulance, physician, hospital, fire department, and police in conspicuous locations at the work site.

3.2 ESCAPE ROUTES: Provide and maintain adequate escape routes at all times in accordance with the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101-91). No corridor, aisle, stairway, door, or exit shall be obstructed or used in a manner that interferes with escape routes.

3.3 PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

1. Inspect personal protective equipment daily and maintain in a serviceable condition. Clean, sanitize, and repair, as appropriate, personal items before issuing them to another individual.

2. Inspect and maintain other protective equipment and devices before use and on a periodic basis to ensure safe operation.

3.4 SAFETY MEETINGS:

1. As a minimum, conduct weekly 15-minute "toolbox" safety meetings. These meetings shall be conducted by a foreman and attended by all construction personnel at the worksite.

2. Conduct monthly safety meetings for all levels of supervision. Notify the Contracting Officer so that she may attend. These meetings shall be used to review the effectiveness of the Contractor's safety effort, to resolve current health and safety problems, to provide a forum for planning safe construction activities, and for updating the accident prevention program. The Contracting Officer will enter the results of the meetings into his daily log.

3.5 HARD HATS AND PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AREAS:

1. A hard hat area will be designated by the Contracting Officer. The hard hat area shall be posted by the Contractor in a manner satisfactory to the Contracting Officer.

2. It is the Contractor's responsibility to require all those working on or visiting the site to wear hard hats and other necessary protective equipment at all times.

3.6 TRAINING:

1. First Aid: Provide adequate training to ensure prompt and efficient first aid.

2. Hazardous Material: Train and instruct each employee exposed to hazardous material in safe and approved methods of handling and storage. Hazardous materials are defined as explosive, flammable, poisonous, corrosive, oxidizing, irritating, or otherwise harmful substances that could cause death or injury.

SECTION 01 51 13 TEMPORARY SERVICES

1.1 DESCRIPTION: The work of this section consists of providing temporary services required for Contractor's performance of the work of this Contract.

PART 2: PRODUCTS

2.1 GENERAL: Temporary materials may be new or used but must be adequate in capacity for the required usage, must not create unsafe conditions, and must not violate requirements of applicable codes and standards.

2.2 FIRE PROTECTION EQUIPMENT: UL Class 2A, 2-1/2-gallon water type, stored-pressure extinguisher and UL Class 10, Type I, 15-pound B:C carbon dioxide extinguisher.

PART 3: EXECUTION

3.1 ELECTRICITY AND LIGHTING:

1. There is commercial electrical power available at the site.

3.2 TELEPHONE:

1. No telephone service is available onsite for Contractor's use. The project sites does have cellular phone coverage.

3.3 WATER:

1. Potable water is available at the site.

3.4 SANITARY FACILITIES:

1. Contractor shall provide their own temporary restroom facilities.

3.5 FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION:

1. A capable and qualified person shall be placed in charge of fire protection. The responsibilities shall include locating and maintaining fire protective equipment and establishing and maintaining safe torch cutting and welding procedures.

2. Hazard Control: Take all necessary precautions to prevent fire during construction. Do not store flammable or combustible liquids in buildings. Provide adequate ventilation during use of volatile or noxious substances.

3. Spark Arresters: Equip all gasoline or diesel-powered equipment used in potential forest or grass fire locations with spark arresters.

4. Locate internal combustion equipment so that exhausts discharge well away from combustible materials.

5. Locate service areas a minimum of 25 feet from buildings. Shut down equipment before refueling.

6. Smoking: Smoking on the construction site is prohibited.

3.7 PROTECTION EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

1. Buildings: Furnish a minimum of one extinguisher for each 1,500 square feet of area or major fraction thereof. Travel distance from any workstation to the nearest extinguisher shall not exceed 75 feet.

2. Vehicles and Equipment: Provide one extinguisher on each vehicle or piece of equipment.

SECTION 01 53 00 BARRIERS

1-1 DESCRIPTION: The work of this section consists of furnishing, installing, and maintaining barriers to protect existing facilities and the public from roofing operations.

2-1 GENERAL: Material may be new or used but shall be suitable for intended purpose.

Fences and barriers shall be structurally adequate and neat in appearance.

2-2 LUMBER: Free of nails, large knot holes, and splinters.

2-3 BARRIER TAPE: Banner Guard, imprinted with “CAUTION: CONSTRUCTION

AREA,” manufactured by Reef Industries, Inc., Houston, Texas, or approved equal.

3-1 PROTECTION OF PUBLIC:

A. Fence, barricade, or otherwise block off the immediate work area to prevent unauthorized entry to the work area.

B. Erect, and maintain barricades, lights, danger signals, and warning signs in accordance the ANSI D6. 1-78.

C. Cover pipes, hoses, and power lines crossing sidewalks and walkways with troughs using beveled edge boards.

D. Entrances to the building shall be protected and a plan shall be submitted on how to safely allow employees to enter and exit during construction activities.

SECTION 01 56 00 TEMPORARY CONTROLS

1-1 DESCRIPTION: The work in this section consists of providing temporary controls.

PART 2: PRODUCTS – Not used.

3-1 HOUSEKEPEING:

A. Keep project neat, orderly, and in a safe condition at all times.

B. Provide enough refuse containers for collecting roofing materials and other construction debris.

C. Wet-down dry material and rubbish to prevent blowing dust.

D. Keep volatile wastes in covered containers.

E. Employee food items or packages must be disposed offsite and not collected within construction debris containers on site.

3-2 DISPOSAL:

A. Unless otherwise specified, all salvaged materials become property of the Contractor and shall be disposed of, in a legal manner, outside the park.

B. Immediately remove hazardous rubbish from project site. Place other construction debris in refuse containers immediately. No piling of debris on ground is permitted.

Dispose of refuse at least biweekly, in a legal manner, at public or private dumping area outside the park.

C. Recycling is highly encouraged.

D. Provide COR with waste manifests for all materials.

SECTION 01 59 00 FIELD OFFICES AND SHEDS

1.1 DESCRIPTION: The requirements of this section consist of furnishing, locating, and removing temporary structures, equipment, and furnishings.

1.2 RELATED REQUIREMENTS: Temporary services - Section 01510.

2.1 CONTRACTOR'S FIELD OFFICE: Contractor may provide an office for his own use.

Size, location and construction shall be subject to approval of the Contracting Officer. The location for these temporary facilities will be decided at the site meeting.

2.2 STORAGE SHEDS: Temporary weather-tight sheds or other covered facilities for storage of materials subject to weather damage. Number, size and location of structures shall be subject to Contracting Officer's approval again decided at the pre-construction meeting.

3.1 STRUCTURES: Locate where directed by Contracting Officer, a minimum of 20 feet from permanent structures.

3.2 REMOVAL: Remove structures, equipment, and furnishings, and terminate services after punch list is 100 percent completed or when directed by Contracting Officer.

SECTION 01 60 00 MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT

1.1 DESCRIPTION: The work of this section consists of the general procedures for handling, storing, and protecting material and equipment.

1.2 TRANSPORTATION AND HANDLING: Arrange deliveries of materials in accordance with construction schedules; coordinate to avoid conflict with work and conditions at the site.

Deliver materials in undamaged condition, in manufacturer's original containers or packaging, with identifying labels intact and legible. Contractor is encouraged to obtain materials in biodegradable or recyclable/ reusable packaging which uses the minimum amount of packaging possible.

1.3 LOCATION: Materials and equipment to be used must be stored within the contract limit line, unless specifically approved by the Contracting Officer.

1.4 STORAGE AND PROTECTION: Store materials in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, with seals and labels accessible for inspection. Conform to specific requirements in individual sections in addition to those listed below.

1. Interior Storage: Maintain temperature and humidity within the ranges required by manufacturer's instructions.

2. Exterior Storage:

A. Store products subject to damage by the elements in weather tight enclosures.

B. Store fabricated products above the ground, on blocking or skids;

prevent soiling or staining. Cover products subject to damage or deterioration with impervious sheet coverings; provide adequate ventilation to avoid condensation.

C. Store loose granular materials in a well-drained area on solid surfaces to prevent mixing with foreign matter.

3. Protection After Installation: Provide adequate coverings as necessary to protect installed materials from damage resulting from natural elements, traffic, and subsequent construction.

SECTION 01 70 00 PROJECT CLOSEOUT

1-1 DESCRIPTION: The work in this section consists of final cleanup, closeout submittals, and final inspection procedures.

PART 2: PRODUCTS

2-1 CLEANING MATERIALS: As recommended by the manufacturer of surface to be cleaned.

PART 3: EXECUTION

3-1 CLEANING: Remove all tools, equipment, surplus materials, and rubbish. Restore or refinish surfaces of existing facilities that are marred, scratched, or damaged due to the work of this contract to match original condition. Remove grease, dirt, stains, foreign materials, and labels from interior and exterior finished surfaces. Sweep paved areas; rake grounds. At time of final inspection, project shall be thoroughly clean and ready for use.

3-2 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS: Submit before final inspection request.

3-3 SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION AND FINAL INSPECTION: Submit written certification that project, or designated portion of project, is substantially complete, and request in writing, a final inspection. Contracting Officer will make an inspection within 10 days of receipt of request.

A. When Contracting Officer determines that the work is substantially complete, they will prepare a list of deficiencies that need to be corrected before final acceptance and issue a Letter of Substantial Completion. Contractor shall complete the work described on the list of deficiencies within 60 calendar days, as weather permits. If the Contractor fails to complete the work within this period, the Contracting Officer may replace, repair, or remedy the work with an appropriate reduction in the contract price.

B. If Contracting Officer determines that the work is not substantially complete, they will immediately notify Contractor in writing, stating reasons. After completing work, Contractor shall resubmit certification and request a new final inspection.

3-4 ACCEPTANCE OF WORK: After all deficiencies have been corrected, a Letter of Acceptance will be issued.

3-5 POST-CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION: Before expiration of warranty period, Contracting Officer will inspect project and notify Contractor in writing of all deficiencies.

DIVISION 02

EXISTING CONDITIONS

SECTION 02 41 19.13 SELECTIVE DEMOLITION

A. The work of this section consists of removal of the existing roof covering(s), nails and related fasteners, flashing and any underlayment materials. The work includes removal, salvage, and disposal.

1-3 SUBMITTALS

A. As specified in Section 01 33 00.

3-1 PREPARATION

A. Provide temporary supports and protection for portion of structure to remain. Protect fixtures and equipment to remain. Protect nearby structures and vegetation as necessary.

3-2 DEMOLITION

A. New roofing materials must be on site and ready for installation before old roofing material can be removed.

B. Removal of old roofing materials will only be allowed with favorable weather window predicted to allow stripping and weather proofing of roofs. Contractor shall be responsible for ensuring buildings are protected from roof related weather damage during duration of project.

C. Avoid excessive loads on supporting walls, floors, and framing by careful location of equipment and prompt removal of demolished materials.

D. Storage Area: Before removal from the site, stockpile materials in area(s) designated by the Contacting Officer’s Representative.

E. Completely remove all fasteners from sheathing boards to remain by pulling them.

Roof sheeting must be clean and free of debris and prior roofing fasteners before installation of new roofing system components.

F. Notify Contracting Officer of any deteriorated sheathing. Remove and replace. It is expected that roof decking deterioration will not exceed 10% of roof surface.

Contractor will inform Contracting Officer immediately should roof decking replacement be required beyond 10% of roof area.

3-3 RESTORATION AND CLEAN-UP

A. Repair and clean adjacent surfaces damaged or soiled by demolition work.

B. Remove equipment, temporary protection and barriers, and debris. Dispose of unsalvageable material as specified in Section 01 56 00 (Temporary Controls).

3-4 INSPECTION

A. Upon completion of removing existing roofing materials and before installation of any portion of the new roof system, obtain approval from the Contacting Officer’s Representative as to the soundness of the underlying structure. If necessary, the Government may modify this contract for correction of noted deficiencies or use Government personnel to make repairs to the sheathing or other substructure.

CARPENTRY

SECTION 06 10 53 MISCELLANEOUS ROUGH CARPENTRY

A. The work of this section consists of replacing any decayed roof sheathing as directed by the Contraction Officer.

1-2 SUBMITTALS

A. As specified in Section 01 33 23.

2-1 Sheathing

A. If necessary, and if directed by the Contracting Officer, repair any damaged or rotten sheathing boards within the entire roof area. All fasteners shall be zinc-plated with an added corrosion-resistant coating, or of a 300 series stainless steel construction. It is not expected that roof decking deterioration will exceed 10% of roof surface.

Contractor will inform Contracting Officer immediately should roof decking replacement be required beyond 10% of roof area. Contractor is responsible for removal of all construction debris.

2-2 ROUGH HARDWARE

A. Unless otherwise specified, all fasteners shall be zinc-plated with an added corrosion-resistant coating, or of a 300 series stainless steel construction.

3-1 GENERAL INSTALLATION

A. Install rough carpentry work in accordance with Uniform Building Code, latest edition.

3-2 CONDITION OF SURFACES

A. Verify that surfaces to receive rough carpentry materials are in suitable condition.

THERMAL AND MOISTURE PROTECTION

SECTION 07 25 00 UNDERLAYMENT FOR METAL ROOFS

1-1 SUMMARY:

A. Provide waterproof underlayment.

B. Related Work: Coordinate with the following items which are specified in other sections:

1. Section 06 10 53 - SHEATHNG for sheathing beneath underlayment.

2. Section 07 41 13 - METAL ROOFING, FLASHING AND TRIM for roof assembly

1-2 SUBMITTALS:

A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer’s product data, including installation instructions, detail drawings, test reports on physical and performance properties, and building code compliance reports.

B. Verification Samples: Submit clearly labeled samples of each material specified.

C. Warranty at Closeout: Submit manufacturer’s executed warranty form with authorized signatures and endorsements indicating date of Substantial Completion.

1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer: Minimum of 3 years experience manufacturing similar products.

B. Installer: Minimum of 2 years experience installing similar products and acceptable to the manufacturer.

C. Mock-Up: Contractor must submit color sample and type specifications to the Contacting Officer’s Representative for approval before ordering the materials.

A. Deliver materials and products in unopened factory labeled packages. Store and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations.

1.5 WARRANTY

A. Manufacturer’s Warranty: Submit manufacturer’s standard limited warranty for defects in materials.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 UNDERLAYMENT:

A. Grace brand ice and water shield or equivalent product, self-adhesive underlayment, entire roof, and sidewalls. Installed per manufacturer’s requirements and approved for use under metal roofing.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Examine substrates for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

B. Clean substrate of dirt, protruding staples or nails and bond breaking substances prior to beginning installation.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. Install products in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, approved submittals and the following:

1. Install directly below metal roofing material with dimple texturing side up.

2. Seal seams of underlayment with approved seam tape at all vertical and horizontal overlapping seams.

3. Seal cuts and tears as recommended by manufacturer.

3.3 PROTECTION

A. Protect installed underlayment from damage during application and remainder of construction period, according to manufacturer’s written instructions.

B. Coordinate with installation of materials which cover the underlayment, to ensure exposure period does not exceed that recommended by the manufacturer.

SECTION 07 41 13 METAL ROOFING

PART 1 GENERAL

1.1 DESCRIPTION

The work of this section consists of furnishing and installing concealed fastener standing seam metal roofing over wood structures including all flashings and accessories.

1.2 SUBMITTALS

A. Detail Drawings: Submit drawings detailing flashing, anchorage, joining and trim.

B. Samples: Submit in accordance with Section 01300. Include one (1) 12-inch x16-inch samples of sheet metal material showing profile, thickness, and 304 stainless fasteners. Include two (2) color samples of standard color in 3-inch x 5-inch samples.

C. Manufacturer's Installation Instructions: Submit one (1) copy.

D. Manufacturer's Maintenance Instructions: Submit one (1) copy.

E. Roofing guarantee. Furnish 5-year guarantee on roofing and associated work specified in this section, agreeing to repair or replace work which leaks water, deteriorates excessively or otherwise fails to perform as roofing, due to failures of material or workmanship.

1.3 INSTALLER'S QUALIFICATIONS

Installer shall be approved by roofing manufacturer in writing. Submit certification and references immediately after contract award. Approved installer shall have successfully applied five metal roofs of (similar nature and scope as advertised project).

1.6 PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

Protect against damage and discoloration. Keep panels dry. Do not overload roof structure with stored materials.

1.7 FIELD MEASUREMENTS

Verify prior to fabrication.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 STEEL PANELS:

Standing seam roofing: Taylor Metal Products Premier-Lock Standing Seam or equivalent. Roofing panels shall be fabricated in continuous lengths from eave to ridge without intermediate joints or laps.

The color of the roofing panels must be consistent with the park’s current standard metal roofing color.

The park’s current standard metal roofing color is currently known as “Denali Green” and is low-sheen/non-glare. Other comparable metal roofing vendors may have different names for the same color; therefore, a color sample must be provided to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) for approval prior to ordering material in order to verify consistency.

Fabricate all roofing components from factory prefinished, 26 gauge steel sheet AZ50 aluminum-zinc alloy coatings conforming to ASTM A792 SS minimum Grade 33.

A. Metal pans: 12” wide with ½”-1” turn up standing seam.

B. Starters, trim: Manufacturer’s factory formed sheet metal shapes.

C. Hold-down clips: Concealed.

D. Flashing: 16 gauge galvanized sheet metal custom-formed to suit conditions.

E. All fasteners shall be zinc-plated with an added corrosion-resistant coating, or of a 300 series stainless steel construction.

F. Self-tapping metal-to-metal fasteners shall comply with ASTM C1513.

G. Grace ice and water shield or equal, self-adhesive underlayment, entire roof, and sidewalls.
