Statement of Work for NPS Vessel Mocama

Remove 66’ x20’ vessel from water by sling hoist, inspect and perform detailed maintenance to the hull and identified machinery. Mocama is a 66’ long by 20’wide aluminum landing craft weighing approximately 60,000 lbs., 2 main engines, 3306 cats, twin disc transmission with 2” diameter shafts, Keel/Hull cooled. 12kw Kubota generator and electric driven hydraulics for bow gate. Vessel can only be lifted by straps, travel lift and blocked to accommodate. Park will deliver vessel, Mocama, to the contractor.

Any stated manufacturer or brands are for reference only. Any items/materials that do not meet minimum manufacturers specifications must be submitted for approval.

Contractor Duties:

1. Haul and block vessel for hull service.

2. FLEET the vessel to complete painting the entire hull. Hull and stern is approximately

1600 SF.

3. SSPC-SP1- Fresh water wash entire hull to be blasted and coated to remove all contaminants.

4. SSPC-SP10- Blast entire hull to be coated to a Near White Metal Blast with a minimum of 2.0 -2.5 mil blast profile.

5. Clean entire hull and area to be painted with Clean, Dry, air to remove all dust and contaminants from blasting.

6. Check hull thickness and provide readings and recommendations.

7. Apply one full coat of Sherwin-Williams Seaguard 5000 HS Epoxy @ 5.0-6.0 mils dft.

8. Apply one full coat of Sherwin-Williams Macropoxy 240 Epoxy @ 4.0-5.0 mils dft.

9. Apply three full coats of Sherwin-Williams Seavoyage Copper Free Anti-Foulant @ 5.0-

6.0 mils dft.

10. Use alternating colors of Anti-foulant between coats.

11. Apply one coat of Sherwin-Williams Seavoyage Copper Free Anti-Foulant at the Boot-

Top only @ 3.0-4.0 mils dft.

12. Replace and install zincs, bolt on type, like in kind, Stern: ZSS-12 Weld-On Zinc (4), Rudder 2: R-5 Camp (1 on each), Hull (Unknown), Shafts 2: X-11 Shaft Zinc Anode (1 on each), Keel Cooler 1: 1274A Zinc Anode for Fernstrum Keel Coolers.

13. Provide paint report (Navsea Standard Mil Spec. 009-32) at end of job completion.

14. Clean Sea Chest (Sea Valves).

15. Visually Inspect props for wear and/or damage and advise on condition.

16. Visually inspect 2” shafts and cutlass bearings for wear and/or damage. Advise on condition. If no visible wear and/or damage, ensure shaft/transmission are in an alignment.

17. Measure shaft coupling standoffs. Inspect and advise on condition.

18. Inspect and clean engine coolers and replace impellers on each side.

19. Change oil and filters on both MDE’s and both transmissions.

20. Replace all fuel filters: Both MDE’s and fixed fuel filters; making sure to clean the filter containers.

21. Remove, clean and seal heat exchanger. Inspect all heat exchanger clamps and hoses and advise on condition.

22. Open, clean and inspect after cooler and housing on both port and starboard engines.

Advise on conditions.

23. Grease bow gate and grease all engine room grease fittings.

24. Inspect, test, and recertify fire systems and provide detailed report (Engine room suppression system and engine driven fire pump). Contractor who recertifies and inspects fire systems should provide report and be licensed to inspect and recertify our specific system.

25. Clean engine room bilge. If engine room deck plates are bolted down and can be easily removed to access more of the bilge to clean, they should be removed. If they are welded down, then they should not be removed.

26. Replace old “NATIONAL PARK SERVICE” legend on both port and starboard side, replace with government provided new

27. Sea Trial to ensure proper operation of vessel and equipment.

28. Contractor is responsible for all waste disposal, including waste disposal in accordance with applicable laws and regulations for hazardous waste disposal.

Bid Additive 001:

• Remove, recondition, and reinstall props. Propellers can be removed without removing the rudders.

Bid Additive 002:

• Remove 2” shafts without removing the rudders and visually inspect shafts in roller stands. Install new seals and make sure three spare seals are bolted on each shaft for in

Page 3 of 4 Pages water seal replacement. Shaft seal make and model is unknown. Vendor will have to determine this when removed. Shaft/transmission alignment checks are to be done at initial install and after the boat is put back in the water.

Bid Additive 003:

• Remove non-skid coating from all decks down to bare metal and prepare to an acceptable profile that may be required by the paint manufacturer. Replace with similar product making sure to use a less aggressive, non-slip aggregate, approx... 1250 sq. ft. (Match existing pattern and paint non-skid as close as possible to upper AC). The deck boards and planks will be removed by the park, prior to the vessel being delivered.

Special Considerations:

• The government will be performing inspections as work progresses. Due to transportation and inspection time/costs, distance from the park will be considered among other factors during the evaluation process of this action. The further the distance, the more costly/inconvenient it will be for the gov’t, so distance will be a factor when determining best value.

• NO ADDITIONAL WORK WILL BE PERFORMED, WITHOUT PRIOR

APPROVAL!!!!!!!!!

• The vessel will be delivered by water upon acceptance of bid and availability to perform repairs/service.

• Vessel can only be lifted by straps, travel lift and blocked to accommodate.

• Park will be notified at least one day before the steps to blast and paint the hull.

• Paint colors to match existing.

• Vessel is to be operated once it has been placed back in the water to ensure proper operation.

• Use Delo 30 weight oil in engines and generator.

• Use Delo 40 weight oil in the transmissions.

• Work should be scheduled to be completed within a 3-week period.

• A detailed project completion report is to be submitted in a three-ring binder, to include all inspections reports, repairs, changes, and final completion.
