VERTICAL CNC MACHINING

CENTER

Requirements

Document For

704th Test Group/846th Test Squadron

14 JULY 2020

1.0 PURPOSE

The 704th Test Group (704 TG) mission is to be the premier provider of unique test and evaluation capabilities relevant to tomorrow’s warfighter through world-class people improving technical excellence, cost-effectiveness, and agility. The 846th Test Squadron (846 TS) is assigned to the 704

TG. The 846 TS operates the Holloman High Speed Test Track, a critical testing facility in the development of new weapon and safety systems for the Department of Defense. The 846 TS requires the purchase of one vertical computer numerical control (CNC) machining center for fabrication of rocket sled parts and components, test articles and test track infrastructure.

2.0 SCOPE

The vendor shall deliver one vertical CNC machining center that meets the following requirements:

2.1 Physical requirements

2.1.1 Spindle: CAT 40, 25 HP minimum with a maximum speed of 12000 RPM or greater

2.1.2 Maximum floor space dimension of 158 x 111 inches with chip conveyer installed.

2.1.3 Table Travel: x-axis 39", y-axis 19"and z-axis 20" or larger.

2.1.4 Tool Magazine Capacity: 24 tools or larger.

2.1.5 Reversible Chip Conveyor with e-stop.

2.1.6 Complete Coolant System with Hi-Pressure through spindle coolant system 213 PSI or greater.

2.1.7 Renishaw probe system for machine set-up and part inspection.

2.1.8 Automatic tool length measure.

2.1.9 Manual Pulse Generator with 6 ft. lead minimum.

2.2 Operational requirements

2.2.1 Latest CNC Controller available for selected machine.

2.2.2 Multiple program input methods to include, keyboard, USB port, and Ethernet, etc.

2.2.3 Allow a maximum program size of 32MB.

2.2.4 Programmable with G&N code inputs (EIA/ISO) from external CAD/CAM software and embedded conversational programs internal to the controller.

2.2.5 Display Virtual Machining simulation and tool path verification.

2.2.6 Use an Absolute Encoder System to control accuracy.

2.2.7 Set up and inspection software for Renishaw Probing System.

2.2.8 First year preventative maintenance included, beginning the date of Government acceptance.

2.2.9 Basic on-site training to include machine operation, programming, maintenance for up 2 people.

2.2.10 The Contractor shall install the Machining Center, complete the start-up and make all the necessary adjustments until it is operational in accordance with (IAW) the Original Equipment

Manufacturer (OEM) specifications.

2.2.11 The Contractor shall perform an onsite performance verification in accordance to OEM specification. The contractor shall provide a certificate of calibration showing conformance to the above specifications.

3.0 MILESTONES

3.1 The vendor shall deliver and install one Vertical CNC Machining Center no later than 180 days ARO. Accomplish start-up and performance verification prior to Government acceptance.

3.2 Provide on-site training at the time of installation.

4.0 DELIVERABLES

4.1 The vendor shall deliver all hardware and documentation (operators and maintenance manuals) to

846th Test Squadron, 1521 Test Track Road, Building 1173, Holloman AFB, New Mexico 88330.

4.2 Standard warranty
