About this file
This specification sheet details technical requirements for a forced air laboratory oven procurement by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) District 6. The agency seeks to acquire a 28 cubic foot forced air lab oven with exterior dimensions not exceeding 43 x 35 x 86 inches and a minimum interior capacity of 27 cubic feet. The equipment must feature exterior construction of durable, corrosion-resistant material suitable for laboratory use and interior construction of stainless steel or equivalent corrosion-resistant material. The oven shall operate on single-phase power at 230 V, 60 Hz, not exceeding 50 Amps, and must utilize a forced-air circulation system to ensure uniform temperature distribution with an operating range from ambient plus 15 degrees Celsius to a minimum of 300 degrees Celsius.
The oven must maintain temperature uniformity within ±2.5 degrees Celsius throughout the chamber and temperature stability within ±0.3 degrees Celsius. Equipment shall include a digital temperature control system with PID control or equivalent capable of precise regulation and a digital display with minimum resolution of 0.1 degrees Celsius. Safety requirements mandate built-in over-temperature protection, an accessible power shutoff or emergency stop mechanism, design features that minimize operator exposure to excessive heat and high-temperature surfaces, and UL listing or certification by a nationally recognized testing laboratory. The equipment should be shipped to the Illinois Department of Transportation District 6, Attention Josh Thoele, at 2420 South Dirksen Parkway, Springfield, Illinois 62703.
