AC1 - 1. SCOPE OF PROJECT

The purpose of this project is to design the space reconfiguration and the repair works needed to adapt the old Base Theatre in Fac. 1467 for hosting AFN Aviano, which will be relocated from Area E to Area F.

The existing interior structure supporting the false ceiling needs to be demolished and replaced with a new mezzanine able to support new functional offices, served by power and lighting system, fire alarm system, COM/DATA system and HVAC system.

The renewed building will host two recording studios for radio, social network and video/TV, one storage, a cooling room for the server, workspace for 16 personnel, single offices for 3 of them, and conference room.

Civil The civil works included in the design consist on:

• the construction of preparatory works for the installation of the emergency electric generator;

• the reconstruction of the side entrance ramp;

• the construction of a system dedicated to the disposal of radon gas;

• the restoration of green areas in the vicinity of the areas being worked on by levelling the ground and grass seeding

Architectural The project stems from the need to transform this space into the headquarters of the Aviano Air Base AFN radio.

To this end, the net height of the building is considered ideal for dividing the space into two levels of equal height.

Considering that the narrow existing stairs are unsuitable, they will be demolished and a transversely placed staircase will be construct.

The precise geometry of the building with its unique perimeter structures, allows the construction within the perimeter of an independent steel structure, with a central spine and constant pitch. One of the 10 resulting bays, approximately 6x4.50 meters, contains the new staircase body and a view over the double-height space, which gives additional light to the conference room.

In order to insert this structure inside the perimeter walls, it is necessary to demolish the slab that supported the projection chamber. In this way, with the new horizontal structure, it is possible to approach the two old angular staircases, covering the current bathrooms with the new floor, which maintain their function.

Architectural works include, among others:

• Removal and disposal of suspended ceiling;

• Removal and disposal of existing external doors and windows;

• Removal and disposal of existing internal doors;

• Removal and disposal of existing internal gypsum board partitions;

• Construction of new floor at ground floor;

• Construction of new gypsum board partitions;

• Installation of new mineral fiber suspended ceiling;

• Installation of new doors and windows,

• Construction of new restrooms;

• Installation of new downspout, gutters and flashing;

• Replacement of roof insulating membrane

• Installation of new safety system on the roof.

Structural The design anticipates the construction of a mezzanine placed inside the old Base Theatre in Fac. 1467 were the available volume, about 11.80mx24.30m per 7.80m height is confined by the masonry structure of the existing construction disposed on its perimeter.

The existing foundation consists of a simple enlargement of the wall thickness, also made of brick elements.

The proposed mezzanine system employs a set of standard steel columns and beams, floor decks, railings and

FINAL (100% design) AC1 Page 7 of 69 stairs. In detail, transversally the structure con be considered an ordinary moment frame structure of two bay portals. Longitudinally the structural system to resist horizontal seismic actions is offered by concentrically braced frames placed in perimeter position at opposite ends.

The floor level consists of secondary beams and a concrete filled steel deck. HEA, IPE, UPN standard sections are foreseen for columns, beams and secondary beams respectively. A concrete beam foundation system will support the mezzanine columns. To avoid seismic interference with the existing structure, the new mezzanine is separated from the adjacent structure to accommodate movement in both directions.

Structural works include, among others:

• Demolition of existing internal stairs;

• Demolition of existing floor slab;

• Foundation excavations inside the building;

• Construction of new reinforced concrete foundation for mezzanine;

• Installation of new mezzanine made of steel structure;

Mechanical Scope of the design is to provide a new independent HVAC system, to not overload existing one, taking into account activity and number of people that will be present in each room.

The design, as explained, will:

• provides a new HVAC system, including a new electric heat pump, VRV type with fan coils and compact heat recovery and ventilation units;

• Provide a dedicated plumbing system.

Mechanical Demolitions include:

• removal of the existing HVAC system

• demolition of wall and/or pavement of existing bathroom and removal of existing plumbing system

• all other items of work as indicated on drawings and Schedule of Work Items.

Mechanical Works include:

HVAC system

• supply and installation of new HVAC and plumbing system in accordance with new internal distribution layout;

• provide all mechanical work needed to meet the requirements of the facility;

• all other items of work as indicated on drawings and Schedule of Work Items.

Plumbing system

• Supply and installation of new sewage system for restrooms.

Electrical Electrical works include the removal of the entire existing electrical system and the supply and installation of new electrical system, internal and external lighting and emergency lighting system, telecommunication distribution system and fire alarm system, in accordance with new internal distribution layout.

0.1.4 Condensing unit for Variable Refrigerant Volume system

Condensing unit for Variable Refrigerant Volume system, controlled by inverter, R410A refrigerant, heat pump, modular structure for side-by-side installation of several units.

The system must provide for the possibility of interrupting the power supply of one or more indoor units ensuring the functionality of the rest of the system.

VRT technology: Load modulation is obtained by automatic and dynamic control not only of the flow rate but also of the evaporation / condensation temperature of the refrigerant with climatic compensation as required by the Ministerial Decree "minimum requirements of

26/06/15 annex1".

The Automatic, High Sensible and Standard modes allow to set the reaction speed of the system.

FINAL (100% design) REVISED SPECIFICATIONS Page 29 of 69

System configuration: the system is configured using a software with a simplified graphical interface, which manages the first start-up and customization of the system.

Compatibility of indoor units: The VRV IV system can be used in combination with the entire range of VRV indoor units, direct expansion air curtains, hydrobox modules for the production of cold and hot water at low temperature, with the units internal of the residential range, to ventilation and fresh air systems, such as enthalpic recuperators with and without direct expansion coil type VAM or VKM, air handling units with hydronic coil type AHU.

Maximum number of connectable indoor units in standard configuration: 46. The power of the connected indoor units must be between a minimum of 50 and can reach a maximum of

200% of that supplied by the heat pump.

Self-supporting steel structure, equipped with removable panels, with galvanization treatment with high corrosion resistance, protection grids on the intake and expulsion of condensing air with an optimized aerodynamic profile having dimensions not exceeding

1685x1240x765 mm (HxLxP) with weight maximum 275 kg. It does not require special bases for installation.

Exchange coil made up of internally grooved copper pipes W-HiX and pack of high efficiency shaped aluminum fins with anti-corrosive treatment, equipped with side protection grids with square mesh. The countercurrent geometry and the e-Pass system allow to obtain a high efficiency of subcooling even with long circuits and to reduce the quantity of refrigerant.

2 helical fans, controlled by inverter, silent operation, anti-turbulence protection grills placed on the vertical air delivery driven by a directly coupled Brushless DC electric motor, operating with digital control; air flow 223 m3 / min, electric motor power 0.75 kW.

Standard external static pressure of 78 Pa; characteristic curve optimized for partial load operation. Speed control by microprocessor to obtain a constant pressure flow in the exchanger.

2 scroll type orbiting spiral hermetic inverter compressors optimized for use with R410A equipped with a pressure regulation device that minimizes losses even in the presence of low loads. Reduced compression surface with digitally controlled brushless motor; capacity control from 3 to 100%; cooling with compressed gas which makes the use of a liquid separator unnecessary. Electric heating element of the oil sump with a power of 33 W.

i-Demand functionality for limiting the peak electric load and sequential start of the compressors. Microprocessor system controller for starting the automatic oil return cycle, which makes the installation of devices for lifting it unnecessary.

Operating range:

• in cooling from –5 ° CDB to 43 ° CDB.

• in heating from –20 ° CBU to 15.5 ° CBU.

Sound pressure level not higher than 60 dB (A). Possibility to reduce the sound pressure level up to 45 dB (A) by setting it on the PCB of the outdoor unit and / or with additional cards.

R410A refrigerant circuit with two-pipe fluid distribution, refrigerant control via electronic expansion valve, synthetic oil, with advanced equalization system; it includes the liquid receiver, the filter and the oil separator. Refrigerant charge not exceeding 10.3 kg.

Automatic function for charging the refrigerant autonomously provides for the calculation of the quantity of refrigerant necessary for correct operation and for its charging within the circuit.

Automatic function for checking the refrigerant: it is also able to automatically check the refrigerant content in the circuit periodically, highlighting any anomalies in the quantity of refrigerant gas.

FINAL (100% design) REVISED SPECIFICATIONS Page 30 of 69

Connections for refrigerant pipes located either under the machine or on the front panel;

diameter of liquid pipe 12.7 mm and gas 28.6 mm to be welded.

Safety and control devices: the system has control sensors for low and high pressure, refrigerant suction temperature, oil temperature, heat exchanger temperature and external temperature. There are also safety pressure switches for high and low pressure (equipped with manual reset via remote control). The unit is equipped with shut-off valves (Schrader valves) for suction, for liquid pipes and for service connections. The refrigerant circuit is cleaned with vacuum suction of humidity, dust and other residues. It is then pre-charged with the relative coolant. System microprocessor for the control and regulation of operating cycles both in heating and in cooling. Capable of managing all sensors, actuators, control and safety devices and electric drives, as well as automatically activating the defrosting function of the exchangers.
