About this file
This is an architectural specification document for the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero (DSH-A) detailing a doors and anti-ligature modifications project, reviewed and approved by the Office of the State Fire Marshal on January 22, 2025. The project involves replacing doors and hardware for medication distribution rooms across multiple housing units, with work to be completed in three phases: Phase 1 focuses on medication room doors, Phase 2 covers a portion of housing unit doors, and Phase 3 addresses remaining housing and program building doors. The project requires extensive coordination between contractors, hospital staff, and security personnel, with specific requirements for worker access, tool control, and maintaining secure environments during construction.
The specifications include detailed requirements for door hardware, glazing, security features, and anti-ligature modifications designed for a psychiatric hospital environment. Key components include fire-rated doors and frames, specialized security hardware, impact-resistant glazing, and tamper-resistant installation methods. The document outlines strict quality control measures, testing requirements, and coordination procedures between trades. The project emphasizes maintaining facility security and patient safety while work is being performed, with specific protocols for tool control, background checks for workers, and escort requirements. Notably absent from the specification are specific pricing terms, funding sources, or contract amounts.
