About this file

Appendix C - Space Allocation is a document from the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) detailing space requirements for a new client service office in White Salmon, Klickitat County. The document specifies a need for approximately 1,350 rentable square feet to support one resident worker, a supervisor, and an Area Administrator, with additional spaces designed for client services, including visitation rooms, a public lobby, and secure staff work areas. The space allocation plan includes 2 offices, 2 cubicles, touchdown spaces, conference rooms, a breakroom, and specific program-specific spaces to accommodate the agency's operational needs.

The space allocation breakdown includes baseline and program-specific square footage, with a total of 1,030 square feet for program-specific spaces and a total allocated square footage of 1,350 square feet. The document emphasizes a 3:1 ratio of touchdown spaces for externally mobile workers and an objective of 80% workspace utilization. Key specialized spaces include a fully remote client lobby (100 sq ft), two visitation rooms (240 sq ft), an externally mobile interview room (120 sq ft), and a touchdown office for the administrator (120 sq ft). The plan also accounts for client and employee restrooms, and spaces designed to support in-person visitations, Family Team Decision Making conferences, and secure client interactions.

This location will be used to support one resident worker in White Salmon that is supported by a supervisor and Area Administrator that will need to periodically work from the office that is planned for White Salmon.

This client service office will also need to be outfitted with areas designed to support our agencies needs to conduct in person visitations with families and children and Family Team Decision Making conferences with the clients we serve and any other parties involved in their case. This functionality will require us to design the space with a public serving lobby that includes a service window to interact with staff, a secure space for the client services that are supported by the office and a secure area for our staff to work independently from our clients. These requirements usually add additional square footage needs to our spaces as they are not included in the standard OFM assumption matrix.

This tool will calculate total allocated square footage and total square footage per user. Please use the Telework Schedule Crosswalk tables on the "Reference Tables" Tab. If your agency requires program-specific space beyond the standard allocation, enter the type of space and desired square footage, which will be added to the baseline allocation. Agencies must justify the need for any program-specific spaces. If Allocation is over 20,000 sq ft provide the Life Cycle Cost Model Tool as an addendum to this form.
