About this file
This is a Feature Work List document for the PKAA Walsen Project in Colorado, detailing mine closure and maintenance work specifications for eight primary closure features and three maintenance features. The project encompasses multiple types of mine openings including sink holes, subsidence features, shafts, and air shafts located across the Walsen mining area. Primary closure work (Item 4.0) includes eight features requiring excavation, backfill installation, and erosion control measures, with estimated backfill volumes ranging from 1 cubic yard to 3,318 cubic yards of imported material. Maintenance work (Item 5.0) includes three features requiring grading, debris removal, and backfill operations. All features are mapped with specific UTM coordinates (NAD83) and documented with precise dimensions including excavated, eroded, and present measurements along with depth specifications.
The work specifications indicate standardized closure methods across features, with most requiring machine backfill using hard, durable, well-graded imported material approximately twelve inches in median diameter. Erosion control requirements include wattle installation along downslope perimeters, with total linear footage ranging from zero to 300 linear feet depending on feature size and location. One feature (W08) requires a monolithic concrete plug installation prior to final backfill. The document specifies that rockfill is generally not required across features, with the exception of feature W08 (10 cubic yards) and feature 748 RH-03 (use of on-site waste pile material). Special considerations include proximity to high-voltage powerlines at multiple feature locations and requirements to preserve existing trees during grading operations.

The feature is located approx. twenty-five (25) feet north of high voltage, overhead, powerlines. Excavate along perimeter until all sides of feature are bound by stable bed rock.
Excavate ramp down to the bottom of the hole. Ramp is intended to be parallel to existing mine workings; to create a stable and safe work area. Backfill feature with imported material: backfill shall consist of a hard, durable, and well graded material with a medium diameter of approximately twelve
(12) inches and sufficient finer particles to minimize the presents of voids. Install one hundred and ten (110) LF of wattles along downslope perimeter of feature. Rockfill IS NOT Required.
The total backfill volume is estimated at seven hundred and fifty-four (754) cubic yards of imported material. This was calculated by multiplying the surface area of the oval feature by its depth.
Excavation will require a larger excavator such as a CAT 325 Excavator (or approved equivalent).

backfill shall consist of a hard, durable, and well graded material with a medium diameter of approximately twelve (12) inches and sufficient finer particles to minimize the presents of voids. Install eighty (80) LF of wattles along downslope perimeter of closure.
Rockfill IS NOT Required.
The total backfill volume is estimated at two hundred and fifty-one (251) cubic yards of imported material. This was calculated by assuming both sides of the figure 8 shaped feature are individual, half-ellipsoids and summing the two volumes.
