About this file
This document is an appendix containing generator maintenance terminology and definitions for the Maryland Department of Health – Springfield Hospital Center (MDH – SFHC) Preventive Maintenance and Load Testing of Fifteen (15) Emergency Generators contract (IFB Number BPM053794). The appendix establishes standardized definitions for key service categories that will be provided under the contract, including preventive maintenance, emergency maintenance, major repairs, and minor repairs. Preventive maintenance is defined as scheduled work involving systematic checking, adjustment, cleaning, and routine services in accordance with equipment manufacturer recommendations, encompassing examination and maintenance of components such as belts, bearings, filters, motors, control wiring, and all other necessary work to maintain proper and continuous operation. The contract specifies that all preventive maintenance must comply strictly with manufacturer recommendations and all applicable local, state, and federal codes and standards.
The document clarifies cost classifications for various repair categories: major repairs are defined as any scheduled repair requiring equipment shutdown or involving replacement parts exceeding $500.00 per incident, while minor repairs are those under $500.00 per incident, with the contractor providing all labor at no additional cost to the State. The contractor is responsible for furnishing and installing all parts for preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, major repairs, and minor repairs, with new parts required unless otherwise approved, and all replacement parts must be specifically designed for the generator or approved as manufacturer substitutes. The State will reimburse the contractor for freight charges billed directly, and the State will pay for all parts related to repair needs discovered before or during the first quarter of preventive maintenance, with the contractor providing labor in accordance with the defined classifications.
