STATEMENT OF NEED FOR JOHNSTOWN FLOOD NATIONAL MEMORIAL
733 LAKE ROAD SOUTH FORK PA
The Johnstown flood Na onal Memorial located in South Fork Pa and has been established as a memorial site to honor the vic ms of the Johnstown Flood of 1889. This project has been established to repair and replace a damaged board walk, overlook, and bridge that directs you to the breast of the dam. The Park is looking to replace the wooden boardwalk and overlook with a more sustainable and longer las ng composite lumber IAW with the specifica ons listed below. Period of Performance will be 60 days a er award.
1) Specifica ons
1. Con nuous Glass Fiber reinforced High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) with less than 25 % calcium carbonate in base HDPE resin.
2. greater than or equal to 5% of overall total weigh is fibrous glass.
3. less than or equal to 2.5 % by weight of organic surface binder.
4. Live Load and Snow load of a minimum of 40 PSF per IRC Sec on R301.5
5. sizing (i.e 2x6 = 1.35” x 5.5”)
6. Flame Spread Index of Class B (Class 2 or be er)

Color must be a gray or weathered appearance: samples/color swatch must be provided to the park for selec on.
