Subject: Answers to Questions asked at July 2, 2024 Optional Pre-Proposal Meeting for the Pumping Station 10 Force Main Condition Assessment Project

Question 1: How long can the station be shut down?

Answer: We have logs of previous shut down sequences for reference; however, most of those examples are shutdowns of the upstream stations (Pumping Stations 13 and 14) while still pumping at Pumping Station 10. We expect to work through specific details and determine a shutdown sequencing plan during the project planning phase. In general, Pumping Station 14 can be shut down from 3 – 6am and Pumping Station 13 can be shut down from 5 – 8am, leaving the Contractor with approximately a 2-3 hour window from ~6:30am – 9am where flows at Pumping Station 10 would be reduced to about half of the average flow. There was one instance of shutting down Pumping Station 10 to televise the end of the force main; however, the high wet well level was reached within 90 minutes. Any planned shutdown of the station will need to be carefully planned and coordinated with District staff.

Question 2: Are the air release valves along the force main accessible?

Answer: GoPro Videos are available to view for structures MH10-24760 and MH10-23080.

Pictures are available for MH10-19623. Please send an email to jenh@madsewer.org to request a link to the videos and pictures.

Question 3: Does MH07-954 have a bolted down cover?

Answer: No. The cover is non-rocking. A GoPro video is also available for MH07-954 upon request.
