Project Location:

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, also referred to as LBNL and Berkeley Lab 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA 94720

Project Name: Building 79 Demolition and Site Prep Building 79 is a 4,056-square-foot metal-clad building, Asset 79B is the compressed gas loading dock west of Building 79. In preparation for the expansion of the adjacent Grizzly Peak electrical substation the RFP contains the following two unpriced options:

Option No. 1: Construction of a temporary 12kV bypass and removal of legacy 12kV duct bank after by-pass install.

Option No. 2: Construction of transformer pads, tower foundations, basic pads, and a utility vault for the electrical substation expansion.

SCOPE

The selected Subcontractor shall provide the necessary personnel, supervision, materials, equipment and lower-tier subcontractors necessary to perform the work, with safe and efficient demolition, including site cleanup and construction of the site utilities relocation.

• Demolish Building 79 and asset 79B, remove soil, and to construct foundation and footers for the expansion of the adjacent Grizzly Peak electrical substation (foundation and footer design work is to be completed by others).

• Demolish and provide removal of Building 79, asset 79B, legacy structures, site features, associated concrete slabs, potentially environmentally (chemically) impacted sewer and storm piping, all below grade utilities, potentially environmentally impacted soils, clean soil, and ferrous objects.

• Two unpriced options related to site prep for the Grizzly Peak electrical substation are included in the RFP, for the expansion of the Grizzly Peak electrical substation:

o Construction of a temporary 12kV bypass, o Construction of transformer pads and tower foundations, and a utility vault; all for the expansion of the Grizzly Peak electrical substation.
