WESTINGHOUSE ANNISTON

P.O. BOX 2000

ANNISTON, AL 36202-2000

August 5, 2010

ATTN: Prospective Bidders

Subject: Amendment No. 01 – ANCDF-RFQ-W10-1120, Repaint Diesel Generator 101-102

Enclosures

Amendment No. 01 to the referenced RFQ hereby adds the following:

1. The close date is extended to the same time on August 23, 2010.

2. The following are questions and answers:

• Item 1.01 – Please advise whether this is to replace the refractory at the windbox in the PCC or the burner box assembly which comes pre-lined from the manufacturer.

(No. The windbox sill be reused and installed by WANCDF Employees.

• Item 1.02.1 – I’m not clear on what is being called the hearth. This may be a duplicate for the floor refractory.

Hearth is the refractory brick in the below the supporting arch over the windbox inlet. This brick can be removed without disturbing the rest of the wall brick. It is the brick most likely to be damaged by flame impingment.

• Item 1.02.2 - The PCC floor refractory cannot be replaced without removing the walls. The walls are built on top of the floor.

Understood. The floor is a thick castable refractory structure and has not shown any damage in other refractory rebuild. It is unlikely to need replacement but if it IS damaged it is understood that the wall would need to come down to replace it. If it suffers only minor damage, it is expected it could be patched with castable refractory and given a new skin coat as has been done in all other rebrickings. Also, what is to prevent the contractor from sawing out the damaged floor and leaving the foundation under the wall?

• Item 1.04.1 – Same as the PCC, the SCC floor refractory cannot be replaced without removing the walls. The walls are built on top of the floor.

See answer above for 102.2

• Note that in performing 1.04.2 then 1.05 (SCC Lower Horizontal Duct) must also be performed in conjunction. It is not physically possible to bring in the large shapes into the SCC without doing this.

Telephone: 256-238-0721 FAX: 256-238-8281

Telephone: 256-238-0721 FAX: 256-238-8281

I am not sure that this is true. The Windbox will be off the Primary and the Secondary furnace can be access through the LIC Primary Cross Over.

• Note that it is not possible to perform 1.06.1 without performing 1.06.2. However, it is possible to perform 1.06.2 without doing 1.06.01.

Any questions should be directed to the undersigned at (256) 238-0721, ext. 182.

Sincerely, Alan McDermott WA Sr. Subcontract Administrator
