About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of an Anaerobic and Microaerophilic Chamber System. The key requirements are:
The system must be capable of providing both anaerobic and microaerophilic environments to cultivate, manipulate, and study bacteria. It must have temperature control between ambient and 42°C, be able to monitor and maintain oxygen levels between 0-5%, have an airlock and glove sleeves to prevent O2 introduction, and accommodate a plate reader. The chamber dimensions cannot exceed 250 cm x 97 cm x 142 cm, with an interior work area of at least 100 cm x 70 cm x 40 cm. The system must be delivered and installed within 150-180 days of contract award.
The associated federal contract opportunity is a Request for Quote (RFQ) solicitation, with a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 334516. The basis for award is Lowest Price Technically Acceptable, considering technical acceptability, deliverability, and price. Quotes are due by 2:00 PM CT on August 8, 2024, to the email address provided.

Statement of Work
Project: Procurement of Anaerobic and Microaerophilic Chamber System
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work: Acquisition of a chamber capable of providing both an anaerobic and microaerophilic environment allowing us to cultivate, manipulate, and study bacteria under a controlled atmosphere.
2.0 Background: Our lab has access to several, strictly anaerobic chambers but we are interested in increasing our throughput. Specifically, we are looking to implement plate-reader based assays. Our current chambers do not have the space to accommodate multiple plate readers, severely limiting out capacity. In addition, we would like the ability to modulate oxygen levels in this chamber to better simulate different areas of the gastrointestinal tract. Market research was completed by a team of USDA scientists to identify features and assess units that offer flexible atmospheric conditions.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
Product shall be Brand name or Equal to: Coy Lab Products, Anaerobic Chamber, Part Number: 7200000, with appropriate accessories to meet the Technical Requirements.
3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:
• Chamber must be equal to or less than (W x D x H) 250 cm x 97 cm x 142 cm
• Interior work area must be greater than (W x D x H) 100 cm x 70 cm x 40 cm to accommodate a plate reader that is (W x D x H) 66 cm x 41 cm x 27 cm and required consumables.
• Chamber must have temperature control between ambient and 42oC, achieved either through heating the entirety of the interior or through an in-unit incubator.
• If there is an in-unit incubator, it must not take up so much space that a plate reader that is (W x D x H) 66 cm x 41 cm x 27 cm will no longer fit.
• Chamber must have the ability to monitor and maintain oxygen levels at a setpoint which can range between 0-5% O2.
• Chamber must have an airlock for passing samples, consumables, etc. into and out of the chamber without introducing excess O2.
• Chamber must have at least 2 sleeves with gloves to prevent the introduction of O2 when manipulating samples, plates, etc.
• Chamber must have an entry port large enough to accommodate a plate reader that is (W x D x H) 66 cm x 41 cm x 27 cm.
• Chamber must have at least 2 interior electrical outlets or the ability to run an extension cord into the chamber without introducing excess O2
• Chamber must have the ability to dehumidify the interior or have the space and interior electrical outlets to power a small dehumidifier.
• Chamber must have the ability to change out gloves when they become worn or punctured without the introduction of excess O2.
• Onsite installation shall be included with provided quote.
• Single onsite USDA Staff training for system shall be included with provided quote.
• Qty: 1 system
4.0 Deliverables/Schedule: Delivered on site within 150 days of date of award and onsite installation and training completed within 180 days of date of award
5.0 Evaluation Factors : Technical acceptability, deliverability and price with technical acceptability and deliverability more important than price.
7.0 Technical Point of Contact: Determined at time of award
8.0 Place of Delivery: USDA, 1920 Dayton Avenue, Bldg 24, Ames, IA 50010
