About this file
This document is Amendment 3 issued by the Maryland Department of General Services, Office of State Procurement, for an Invitation to Bid (ITB) for Armed Guard Service for the Department of Housing and Community Development. The amendment clarifies that the contractor must issue and pay for a standard issue/contractor approved gun and ammunition for all guards, rather than allowing the guards to purchase their own firearms and ammunition. The related state and local contract opportunity is for two (2) armed security guards to provide service at the Department of Housing and Community Development facility located in Lanham, MD, covering an 8-hour shift from 5:45 am to 2:15 pm and an 8-hour shift from 2:15 pm to 10:15 pm, Monday through Friday.
The contract will be awarded to a single contractor to provide the required armed guard services. No additional details are provided regarding pricing, set-asides, incumbents, funding requirements, or other salient information.

Q1. We require our armed guards to purchase their own firearm and ammunition and have it registered with the MSP. We do require a Threat Level 3 Holster to be used at all times while on duty.
Is the contractor issue/supplied firearm a requirement or would a policy similar to the one we have in place be sufficient?
