About this file

This document is an amendment to a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Purchasing Services Department regarding data center services. The amendment provides answers to questions received from suppliers, including estimates that the university may need between 130-150 racks within the first 10 years. The RFI also specifies the two Madison, WI locations where the university requires diverse 400GB network circuits. The university anticipates releasing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for these services in early 2025.

The RFI does not constitute a solicitation, and responses will not result in a binding contract. This RFI is solely for information and planning purposes. Pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent providers, funding sources, and other salient details are not provided in this amendment.

AMENDMENT #2

RFI 25-102824 Request for Information – Data Center Services

Note: This amendment is for a Request for Information (RFI) and is not a bid or request for proposal.

This Request for Information (RFI) is issued solely for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. Responses to the RFI will not be returned. Responses to this RFI are not an offer and cannot be accepted by the State to form a binding contract.

This amendment serves to amend the RFI in the following:

1.) Answer the questions received by supplier.

Number Question Answer 1 In the RFI, UW Madison outlines the size of the cabinets and Megawatts, but is there any feel for how many actual cabinets that might make up over time?

Within the first 3-5 years we estimate the need for 60 racks and within the first 10 years somewhere between 130-150.

This is only an estimate.

2 Regarding the network, when talking about the 400GB circuits, is that between the UW campus and the colocation data center? If so, is there one UW location the diverse circuits would come into or would there be multiple locations on campus the circuits would connect to?

1210 West Dayton St. & 432 E Campus Mall in Madison, WI.

3 When is the RFP anticipated to come out

Early 2025.
