About this file

This is Amendment No. 001 to RFQ No. 19SP5026Q0020, issued by the General Services Office at the American Embassy in Madrid, Spain, with an effective date of June 16, 2026. The amendment modifies Attachment 5 (Drawings) and Attachment 6 (Specifications) to incorporate accessibility changes to a facilities maintenance project at the embassy.

The amendment specifies two primary modifications: (1) relocation of the sink/lavatory from its current wall-mounted position to the center of the room to provide 360-degree accessibility clearance and compliance with ADA standards requiring a minimum 30" x 48" clear floor space, with plumbing supply and drain lines extended through the wall to the new location; and (2) conversion of the existing bathtub into an ADA-compliant roll-in or accessible shower with a zero-threshold (curbless) shower pan sloped toward a center or linear drain, fitted with a sliding glass door enclosure to eliminate trip hazards and preserve wheelchair maneuvering space. The amendment extends the offer submission deadline to June 30, 2026 at 17:30 hours. Contractors must acknowledge receipt of this amendment prior to the new deadline by completing required items, acknowledging receipt on each copy of their offer, or submitting a separate letter or telegram referencing the solicitation and amendment numbers. Failure to acknowledge receipt may result in rejection of the offer.

14. DESCRIPTION OF AMENDMENT/MODIFICATION (Organized by UCF section headings, including solicitation/contract subject matter where feasible.)

The purpose of this amendment to the solicitation is to change Attachment 5 – Drawings and Attachment 6 – Specifications to incorporate the following:

1. Sink/Lavatory Relocated to the Center of the Room ( only modification on drawings not on SOW)

The sink is moved from its current wall-mounted position to a position at the center of the room, allowing 360° accessibility clearance around the fixture. This ensures a minimum 30" x 48" clear floor space in front of the sink as required by ADA standards and allows wheelchair users to approach from the front or side. Plumbing supply and drain lines will be extended through the wall to serve the new central location.

Except as provided herein, all terms and conditions of the document referenced in Item 9A or 10A, as heretofore changed, remains unchanged and in full force and effect.

2. Shower Remains in the Current Bathtub Location ( SOW and drawing)

Rather than relocating the shower, the existing bathtub is converted into an ADA-compliant roll-in or accessible shower, taking advantage of the existing plumbing connections (hot/cold supply lines and drain) which remain largely in place — minimizing disruption and cost. The bathtub is removed and replaced with a zero-threshold (curbless) shower pan, sloped toward a center or linear drain to improve drainage performance and eliminate trip hazards — a key ADA requirement.

The shower area is fitted with a sliding glass door enclosure (as SOWdescribed), which is preferred over a swinging door in accessible designs because it does not require swing clearance into the transfer space, keeping the maneuvering area free for wheelchair users.

3. The deadline for submission of offers is hereby extended through June 30, 2026 at 17:30 hours.
