About this file
This is a Special Packaging Instruction (DD Form 2169) that specifies packaging requirements for a Housing, Cooling Fan Drive component (Part Number E8DR129-0250-1, National Stock Number 3040-01-431-3058, CAGE Code 02978). The form was issued on January 30, 2003 with Revision A and applies to CAGE 19207 with SPI Number AK14313058.
The item weighs 30.7 pounds per unit pack with dimensions of 16.8 x 13.5 x 13.3 inches and a cubic volume of 1.746 cubic feet. The packaging instructions mandate military preservation using MIL-STD-2073-1D Method 42, cleaning and drying per MIL-STD-2073-1D before material application, and a seven-step packing sequence. This sequence includes wrapping with MIL-PRF-121 Type II (50 x 26 size), blocking/bracing on mounting boards, two layers of cushioning material (ASTM D4727 specifications), an inner fiberboard container, a moisture barrier bag (MIL-PRF-117), and an outer fiberboard or weatherresistant container (ASTM D5118 specifications). Marking must comply with MIL-STD-129. For Level A packing, cleated-plywood boxes conforming to ASTM D6251 are required for overseas shipment. For Level B packing, weatherresistant fiberboard boxes (ASTM D5118), triple-wall corrugated fiberboard (ASTM D5168), or pallet base containers (MIL-B-43666) are acceptable. When total shipment quantity to a single destination exceeds 125 pounds, exterior packs without skids must be palletized per MIL-HDBK-774. Detailed technical drawings on continuation sheets show component assembly details, including mounting board specifications and fastener requirements.
