Stone riprap shall consist of sound, durable natural stone that is resistant to weathering, abrasion, and degradation. The material shall be free from cracks, seams, friable zones, laminations, excessive moisture-directed fracturing, or any other defects that would reduce its stability or long-term performance. Stone shall exhibit- a minimum bulk specific gravity of 2.40 and a magnesium sulfate soundness loss not exceeding 18 percent after 5 cycles, consistent with current requirements.
All stone riprap shall conform to the gradation, nominal size, and weight distribution requirements of TxDOT Item 432, suitable for the designated application. Riprap shall consist of roughly angular, interlocking stones that provide stability under flowing water or erosive conditions. Flattened, elongated, or rounded stones shall be minimized to ensure proper interlock and resistance to displacement. Each load shall be uniform in size and quality; oversized pieces exceeding the specified nominal size, as well as undersized stones or fines that affect placement stability, are prohibited.

The estimated quantities are based upon historical usage and anticipated needs.
Delivery Orders will be issued on an as needed basis according to annual budget appropriations.
