3 BOG SPRINGS CAMPGROUND
Site used for recreation – system services this campground and recreation sites further north, to Proctor Parking area and beyond.
Served by Bog Springs – existing system includes sediment tank, two 20,000‐gallon tanks, chlorination equipment, and approximately 1.4 miles of distribution main.
Whole system is potable.
Project includes:
Repair of the leak at one of the existing 20,000‐gallon tanks and replacement of the chlorination equipment.
Installation of fencing around the sediment tank, including access gates.
Removal and replacement of nearly 1.4 miles of PVC and GSP main with new 2” HDPE. This alignment travels cross‐country.
Removal and replacement of approximately 500 feet of existing PVC that leads to the Madera Picnic Area with 1” HDPE.
Replacement of all appurtenances currently directly on the main (valves, air release valves, pressure‐reducing valves, etc.) – no system “branches” will be replaced.
Please note the special pressure‐reducing valve configuration needed maintain pressure control of the line. Substantial pressure is received at lower recreation areas.
4 KENT SPRING CABIN
Site is part of the cabin‐rental program, and is actively rented.
Served by Kent Spring.
System will be replaced starting at current tank location and ending at service entrance to house.
Project includes:
Removal and replacement of the existing water tank with a new 1,000‐gallon potable water tank. Tank site has been relocated to a site under the house deck.
Removal and replacement of approximately 400 feet of GSP main between the existing tank location and the house. New main is to be 2” HDPE.
Removal of the existing shed structure. New enclosure to be placed under deck.
Installation of a new pressure tank, pump, meter, chlorinator, and other equipment in the new enclosure.
Fencing of the tank to prevent unauthorized access.
Connection of the new system to the house system.
5 PENA BLANCA LAKE
Recent work on lake has been completed, and new work including a boat ramp and restroom is anticipated.
Long‐term plans for this are extensive.

Fencing of the new tank as well as the water operations shed and well; access gates are included.
Replacement of 300’ of GSP/PVC main between the tanks and the well with new 2” HDPE.
Re‐establishment of power to the well site. Power will be obtained from an overhead electric line located 1/8th of a mile away. Design includes a pad‐ mounted transformer, and underground lines. Please note ground/digging conditions.
Installation of a new water pedestal.
6 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
a CAN THE CONTRACTOR STAY IN THE KENT SPRINGS CABIN DURING WORK? Yes, provided they follow the same rules as all renters of the cabin.
b DOES THE EXISTING BOG SPRINGS LINE STAY IN SERVICE DURING CONSTRUCTION? No.
c DOES THE EXISTING LINE NEED TO BE REMOVED OR ABANDONED IN PLACE? Removed and replaced.
d HOW DEEP ARE THE EXISTING LINES? Approximately 2 feet deep.
e WHAT IS THE REQUIRED TANK REPAIR? This item is not longer needed f DOES A GEOLOGIST NEED TO LOG THE WELL DRILLING? No.
g WHERE IS THE WELL AT BOG SPRINGS? There is no well – it is fed by a spring approximately 1 mile away.
h IS THE AIR RELEASE VALVE AT THE FENCE NEAR THE BOG TANKS BEING REPLACED? Yes.
6 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS (continued) i WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE LINES GO UNDER PAVEMENT? We will either place the pipe in the shoulder of the road or use the existing pipe as a sleeve.
j ARE THE CARSONITE SITES BEING REPLACED? No.
k THERE IS A LOT OF ROCK AT KENT SPRINGS – IS THE BURY DEPTH STILL 2 FEET? No, in instances where there is substantial rock interference at this project site, the trench depth will be modified to accommodate 8” of cover. The entire trench will need to be filled with AB when this option is exercised.
l CAN 1.5”HDPE BE USED AT KENT SPRINGS? Yes, In addition to the base bid, please provide an alternate bid that details this proposed change.
m WHY IS THERE 400 LF OF PIPE IN THE KENT SPRINGS CONTRACT? This is an overestimate that allows more freedom in tank placement should it not fit in the proposed location.
n CAN WE HAND‐MIX THE CONCRETE SLABS? Yes o WHERE DOES THE WATER LINE ENTER THE HOUSE? Our understanding is that it enters the house by the existing spigot.
p WHERE DOES THE ELECTRIC LINE RUN FOR KENT SPRINGS? It will be run from the panel, through the attic, to the water enclosure.
q WHERE DOES THE ELECTRIC LINE RUN FOR PENA BLANCA? Please refer to the supplied plans.
r HOW OLD IS THE WELL AT PENA BLANCA? Old – exact age is unknown s WILL THE ELECTRIC LINE RUN IN CONTAMINATED SOIL? No, the trenchline avoids areas of dredged material. It does run along an area where bedrock is known to exist.
t WHERE IS THE TRANSFORMER LOCATED? Per the supplied plan, at the pole.
u WHAT IS THE DEPTH OF THE PENA BLANCA WELL? Our records show close to 400 feet.
6 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS (continued) v DO WE REPLACE THE RISED IN THE WELL? Yes, please follow what is outlined in the specifications.
w WILL THE POWER COMPANY PROVIDE POWER TO THE TRANSFORMER? Typically this is the case. Coordination with Unisource is the responsibility of the Contractor.
x CAN WE GET A SKETCH OF THE ELETRICAL AT PENA BLANCA – IS A METER NEEDED?
The information supplied on fbo.gov is all we have at the moment. A meter will be required – it’s base will be located at the service entrance at the water operations shed.
y IS THE 1” CONDUIT BETWEEN THE WELL AND TANK SUFFICIENT FOR THE WIRE? We believe it is. If there is a concern, please feel free to submit a bid option for 1.5” conduit.
z IS THE 2HP PUMP LARGE ENOUGH FOR THE SYSTEM? Yes, pump curves show that it is adequately sized.
aa CAN THE DROP PIPE FOR THE WELL BE GALVANIZED INSTEAD OF STAINLESS STEEL? We will accept PVC as an option to this requirement – please provide a bid option to the base bid package that details this choice.
bb ARE CONCRETE VALVE BOXES REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT? Yes, as shown on the supplied details. Please include costs for valve boxes in the appropriate appurtenance line items.
