· Coordination meetings and minute taking.

· 90 percent submittal with project specifications.

· 100 percent submittal with project specifications, reproducible specifications.

3. A list of questions and answers regarding this solicitation is provided below:

Question: On number 5 timing requirements, do you mean a time schedule?

Answer: Yes. Provide a project schedule.

Question: Do you desire to see graphic samples of past interpretive panel designs?

If so does the electronic system allow for uploading pdf graphic files or would it be better to send a hard copy in the mail with graphic samples?

Answer: Yes, pdf Graphic files can be uploaded to FBO. You may also choose to mail the entire proposal with the Graphic samples if encountering difficulty uploading in FBO

Question: Are original illustrations required to be created for these panels?

If so please state the number of illustrations and type of illustrations. For example, will the illustrations be of a bird, wildflower, or an ecosystem? Ecosystem drawings can cost $3,000 to produce. Illustrations are very expensive to produce and/or purchase.

Answer: Background illustrations, graphic artist designs, and photographs will be prepared by the Forest Service.

Question: Can photos be used instead of illustrations? Does the Forest Service have good photos for use or would the contractor have to purchase rights for photos or take the photos?

Answer: Contractor to use a combination of photographs and illustrations. All illustrations and photos will be provided by the Forest Service.

Question: Will the Forest Service provide maps for the panels that the contractor can edit or will the contractor need to create maps from scratch? How many maps are required?

Answer: Yes. The Forest Service will provide all map files for editing by the contractor.

Question: Phase 1 and Phase 2 use the term "schematic" design. This term is usually used in the exhibit design field and not in the graphic design field. For graphic design of panels usually a conceptual graphic design is provided. Is this what is wanted?

Answer: Yes. Conceptual design is schematic design.

Question: In Phase 2 it says "develop panel exhibit design". Do you mean develop panel graphic design?

Answer: Yes. Prepare panel design including overall theme.

Question: Phase 3 says "prepare panel exhibit drawings". Do you mean prepare panel graphic design?

Answer: All panels are to be graphic designs.

Question: Under phase 4 deliverable "full size color panel proofs and digital files". Section C.8-1 specifications says "panel drawings shall be submitted full size on 24" x 36" sheets with at least 4 sets of each panel true color print." Full size proofs are asked for in the solicitation but not in the budget. Can I include the price for these as a separate line item since 4 sets of 16 panels or 64 full size proofs will be very expensive. The fabricator who I work with (KVO Industries) always provides one half size proof of each panel as part of their panel production costs. Just wanting to verify that you indeed want to spend the money on 64 full size proofs?

Answer: CHANGE. Page 4 C.8.1 to provide one set full size true color proofs and one set half size true color proofs for each graphic panel.

Question: Under project deliverables it says "initial plans, renderings and/or electronic visual simulations and materials". This seems to refer to exhibit design and planning. Renderings are usually a part of exhibit design. In graphic design for panels the contractor will provide conceptual graphic designs for each panel. Is this what you meant?

Answer: Yes. Conceptual draft and final proofs, no renderings or exhibits.

CHANGE, Delete reference to renderings and electronic visual simulations in first bullet of “Project Deliverables”.

Question: Under deliverables the reference to drawings, project specifications, and shop drawing review comments from fabricator, in my experience, relate to exhibit design and fabrication. These are not applicable to graphic design for panels, are they? All that is required is the graphic design on a CD for the fabricator to produce the panels. Please clarify why you mentioned these exhibit terms for this contract.

Answer: Shop drawing review and attendance to field inspection is not required for the contract.

CHANGE, Delete last two bullets under “Project Deliverables” i.e. “Shop drawing review comments form fabricator” and “Attendance field inspection”.

Question: Could images of any existing kiosks that are similar in construction be provided?

Answer: There are no existing photos of existing interpretive kiosks that can be provided

Question: Could images of any existing kiosks that are similar in construction be provided?

Answer: All interpretive panels are of equal importance
