Solicitation AG-94TZ-S-12-0077 Questions and Answers 11/05/2012
1) Based on historical data, what is the annual estimate for the total quantity of buoys that are replaced every year?
Total in normal years is 533 buoys.
2) Based on historical data, please clarify the frequency of the supply & replacement of the Two Mile Solar-Powered Beacon light at Saguaro Lake.
The average has been about two years.
3) Based on information presented at the site walk, and due in part to water currents, is it recommended by the USDA that the contractor furnish boats with a 200 horsepower minimum outboard motor?
You can use any size motor. Having less than 200 hundred horsepower will severely limit your ability to keep up with the maintenance and inspection schedule. And limit you when trying to adjust buoys.
4) The solicitation requires for weekly service of the buoy system at Bartlett Lake, Roosevelt Lake, Apache Lake, Canyon Lake, and Saguaro Lake. Due to ever-changing Lake water level, is it generally required for the buoys at these five lakes to be adjusted and relocated each week?
Yes
5) Does the USDA expect that the contractor will need multiple boats and crews working full-time to perform this requirement?
Yes. You can try with any number of boats and crews if you want. But when you call and tell me that your one boat is broken and you cannot meet the statement of work in the contract. That will be contract default.
