4. Pay Item 808 Work Area Management. No separate measurement or payment will be made for meeting requirements of this Section. All work and materials are incidental to paid work in this contract.
5. “Standard Specifications for Construction of Roads and Bridges on Federal Highway Projects, FP-14”, U.S. Customary Units, is applicable for this project, and is included by reference only.
The requirements contained in these Standard Specifications are hereby made a part of this solicitation and any resulting work. These specifications can be viewed at no cost on the FHWA website, which also gives ordering information:
http://www.wfl.fha.dot.gov/design/specs/fp14.htm.
6. See Table 204-2 Tolerances on page 63 of the Specifications. Generally assume the level of tolerance will be Tolerance Class F.

SCHEDULE OF ITEMS. No payment will be made for work performed in excess of that staked, ordered, or otherwise authorized.
9. Payment will be made following satisfactory completion of task order at the unit rate as listed on each task order.
10. All disturbed areas in each task order shall be seeded and fertilized in accordance with requirements set forth in this section and are incidental.
11. Apply turf establishment to finished slopes and ditches as soon as possible after satisfactory completion of excavation. Do not seed during windy weather or when the ground is excessively wet, frozen, snow covered, extremely dry, cloddy, hard pan, or is otherwise untillable.
Application Methods for Seed & Fertilizer (if required):
Furnish the kinds of seed and the amounts to be applied in terms of pure live seed as follows:
Provide seed certification labels to the COR.
Quantity of Pure
Kind of Seed Live Seed (Lbs/Acre)
1. Mountain Brome Grass 5 lbs./acre (26%)
2. Slender Wheatgrass 3 lbs./acre (16%)
3. Thick Spike Wheatgrass 3 lbs./acre (16%)
4. Canby Bluegrass 3 lbs./acre (16%)
3. Blue Wild Rye 5 lbs./acre (26%)
Total 19 lbs./acre (100%)
Determine the pounds of seed to be furnished per acre by dividing the pounds of pure live seed required per acre by the product of the percent purity and percent germination.
Example 5 lbs. pure live seed/acre = 6.55 lbs. commercial seed per acre;
0.90 x 0.85 purity = 90% and germination = 85%
Apply seed by the dry method. Retest germination after 6 months of purchase if seeding has not been performed.
12. Seed. Conform to the Federal Seed Act, the Federal Noxious Weed Act, and applicable State and local seed and noxious weed laws. Seed shall be certified weed free. Do not use wet, moldy, or otherwise contaminated or damaged seed. Furnish each seed type in separate sealed container.
Clearly label each container with the following:
(a) Name and type of seed
(b) Lot number
(c) Net mass
(d) Percent of purity, germination, and hard seed
(e) Percent of maximum weed seed content
(f) Seed Origin
(g) Noxious weeds present
(h) Other crop seed
(i) Inert matter
(j) Name and address of seed distributor
(k) Mixture percent of each component
Inoculate legume seed with approved cultures according to the manufacturer's instructions.
