Retain definition(s) remaining after this Section has been edited.

A. Action Submittals: Written and graphic information and physical samples that require Contracting Officer's responsive action.

B. Informational Submittals: Written and graphic information and physical samples that do not require Contracting Officer's responsive action. Submittals may be rejected for not complying with requirements.

16.3 ACTION SUBMITTALS

Revise paragraph below to suit Project. If there is an office submittal review sequence policy, insert specific requirements. See Evaluations for discussion on submittal review sequence policies.

A. Submittal Schedule: Submit a schedule of submittals, arranged in chronological order by dates required by construction schedule. Include time required for review, ordering, manufacturing, fabrication, and delivery when establishing dates. Include additional time required for making corrections or modifications to submittals noted by the Contracting Officer and additional time for handling and reviewing submittals required by those corrections.

16.4 SUBMITTAL ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS

See Evaluations for cautions on use of Architect's digital data files, in first paragraph below, for submittals.

A. Contracting Officer's Digital Data Files: Electronic copies of CAD Drawings of the Contract Drawings will be provided by Contracting Officer for Contractor's use in preparing submittals.

Retain subparagraphs below if Architect's digital data files will be made available to Contractor. Examples of items that may be included are limitation to files that already exist, limitations on incorporating modifications, limitations on availability of Architect's consultant files, limitation of digital drawing system formats, limitation on digital drawing entity attributes and layering, restrictions on Contractor's use, cost of providing files, mode of transmittal, and delivery time.

Retain subparagraph below if one submittal has an impact on another submittal. Submittals that require concurrent review should be so indicated in those Sections.

2. Coordinate transmittal of different types of submittals for related parts of the Work so processing will not be delayed because of need to review submittals concurrently for coordination.

a. Contracting Officer reserves the right to withhold action on a submittal requiring coordination with other submittals until related submittals are received.

C. Processing Time: Allow time for submittal review, including time for resubmittals, as follows. Time for review shall commence on Contracting Officer's receipt of submittal. No extension of the Contract Time will be authorized because of failure to transmit submittals enough in advance of the Work to permit processing, including resubmittals.

1. Initial Review: Allow 14 days for initial review of each submittal. Allow additional time if coordination with subsequent submittals is required. Contracting Officer will advise Contractor when a submittal being processed must be delayed for coordination.

2. Intermediate Review: If intermediate submittal is necessary, process it in same manner as initial submittal.

3. Resubmittal Review: Allow 14 days for review of each resubmittal.

Retain one of first two paragraphs below based on requirement for paper copy or electronic submittals. Retain first paragraph for requirements for paper copies; retain second for electronic submittal identification and information requirements.
