The existing metal shingles shall be removed and retained for reinstallation after underlayment is replaced. Areas of damaged wood sheeting and fascia shall be replaced with “like in-kind “replacement. Caution shall be taken not to expose any fasteners on the underside of the sheeting. The Contractor shall use “Grace Ultra” as the first layer of underlayment and “Tamko Nail Fast” as the second layer of underlayment. The seams of the two layers of underlayment shall not coincide with each other. After the underlayment is inspected by the Forest Service, re-installation of the metal shingles can occur. Missing shingles shall be replaced by the Contractor.

The Contractor shall fabricate shingles from “like in-kind” material. The shingles shall have similar dimensions, shape and color to match the existing shingles. The shingles shall be attached using ringed roofing nails with gaskets.

Prior to commencing work, the Contractor shall submit a procedure to the COR for log replacement. The log replacement procedure shall include temporary bracing of the existing structure while log is being replaced, replacement procedure of rotten log with “like in-kind” materials and treatment method to preserve log.

C. The third phase of this project consists of the replacement of five front porches on

USDA Forest Service mining cabins. The front porches shall have the exact appearance as the existing and shall be designed with 85 pounds per square foot loading. The design and materials of construction shall be submitted prior to construction to the COR for approval. All exposed wood shall be treated using “Bora- Care” from www.prginc.com.

D. The fourth phase of this project is to grit blast with corn media and refinish all exterior logs of the four Crescent Mining Cabins and the Hutchinson-Barnett Cabin.

The logs shall be refinished “like in-kind “ of the orginal finish. Replace damaged chinking on all cabins with “like in-kind” products. The procedure and materials shall be submitted prior to construction to the COR for approval.

E. The fifth phase of this project is to demolish an existing toilet building & vault, install contractor furnished concrete toilet vault, and to construct a new stick-built toilet on top of the new vault in accordance with the drawings and specifications. The http://www.prginc.com/
