Are helicopters needed for this project.Helicopter use is not anticipated for this project.
Is there a designated wood source for this project.No.
Can a fiberglass bridge be installed instead of the bridge as shown on the plans.A new design or new material will need to be designed and stamped by a Colorado registered professional engineer. If an alternate design is proposed it will need to meet all characteristics of the Agency design and will be subject to meeting visual resource criteria. There is no guarantee that even if a new bridge is designed to applicable engineering standards, it may not meet the standards set forth for visual resource quality.
Can an alternate steel truss be used.If an alternate truss is proposed, the truss will need to be designed by a Colorado registered professional engineer. The design will need to show the truss and supporting calculations for dead load deflection, live load deflection, and wind load deflection. The design will also show connection details and wooden member connection details.
The 7'-4" steel rod that is shown on page 3 of the plans in cross section view, how many steel rods are to be installed.A steel rod will be installed at every up right handrail post.
Can ATV's get to the bridge sites.ATV's will be allowed to the sites. The trail to the Morrison bridge is a more technical and difficult trail.
Can larger equipment such as bobcats and pickups get to the site. While they could probably get to the sites, they will NOT be allowed at the sites. No equipment larger than an ATV will be allowed at the site.
What material are the current bridges made of?The current bridges are both nail/glue laminated wooden structures, supported on either end with concrete abutments.
Can the current bridges be sawn and burned at the sites. No, they must be removed from the site as shown on the plans, and stated in the specifications.
Do you have GPS coordinates of the bridges? No, the legal description of the bridges is shown both on the plans and written in the specifications.
How far from Forest Service roads are these bridges. The Groundhog bridge is approximately 0.3 miles from the trailhead, and the Morrison bridge is approximately 0.5 miles from the trailhead.
