ANSWERS TO CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS:

Question 1:

The type of heat cable wanted on the 2 buildings. We have price options ranging from $1.00 per

ft. to $5.00 per ft. depending on the quality and warranty provided by the manufacture, the higher end type is also self- regulating which will not only add to its life expectancy but will also save on energy consumption.

Answer:

Basis of Design for cabling will be model H612 120V WinterGard Wet roof and gutter de-icing systems by Raychem. Locate cabling and loops on roof, gutter, downspouts per Raychem installation specifications for an asphalt shingle roof.

Question 2:

Each building has 2 ckts per side according to the panel schedules, this may not be enough to run the heat tape as per the specifications, it is estimated that 500' per side per building with down spouts and gutters. Will there be any money allowed for elect upgrades to accommodate the extended runs of heat cable or should this be excluded from our bid?

Provide additional electrical circuits to accommodate required loads for heat cabling and controls.

Question 3:

Currently there is no control of the heat cable so it looks like it runs 24/7 365 days a year. Will some sort of temp sensors or manual control be required to shut it off on warmer days or will it just run constantly?

Provide an Automatic Control to operate when both precipitation and low temperature are detected. Basis of Design: Raychem models GIT-3 or GIT-4 controllers
