SUBJECT: AMENDMENT NO. 5 TO THE BIDDING DOCUMENTS FOR:

USDA-ARS

Madison, Wisconsin

General: The following items reflect modifications and clarifications to the Bidding Documents and to part of the Work for the above project. Acknowledge receipt of this Amendment on Bid Form. Failure to acknowledge receipt of Amendment may subject the Bidder to disqualification. All requirements of the original drawings and specifications shall remain in force except as modified by Amendment.

Clarifications to Contractor Questions:

Question #1: There is concern about trying to feed the new DDC wiring through the existing pathways for the pneumatic control system, particularly since some appear to go through the concrete structure to unknown locations. This was noted in particular in the lab we walked through. Is it required that the existing pathways be reused, or that the wiring be installed in conduit within the walls? Or is surface-mounted wire mold acceptable in these instances?

USDA Response: General Note 2 on drawing MV201C addresses the routing of temperature control wiring to thermostats. Temperature control wiring shall meet the requirements of 23 09 00-C. The pneumatic pathways may be re-used if 23 09 00-C requirements are met, otherwise new pathways shall be provided.

Question #2: Since we were not able to get into all areas of the building, we would like a representative from the facility to verify the number of VAV boxes, making note of those with reheat.

USDA Response: VAV boxes are shown on the floor plans and are denoted as "AT- *-**" and "CV-**".

Question #3: There are some existing VFDs. Is it acceptable to reuse the existing VFDs, or shall they all be replaced? If they are to be replaced, who is to provide the VFDs?

USDA Response: VFD's are shown to be replaced on the electrical drawings.

Question #4: Is it the intent to include the fume hood exhaust system in the scope of work for bid option #5?

USDA Response: Fume hood exhaust system is shown included for bid option #5 on sheet MV204C.

Question #5: Is it the intent to include the toilet room exhaust system in the scope of work for bid option #5?

USDA Response: Toilet room exhaust system is shown included for bid option #5 on sheet MV204C.

Question #6: Is the existing JCI Metasys system currently installed in the building connected to any type of external monitoring system?

USDA Response: No.

Question #7: Is the existing JCI Metasys system connected to a building access system?

Question #8: Is the existing JCI Metasys system connected to a lighting control system?

Question #9: Is any work at the CCRU included in bid option #5, or is it the intent to reuse the existing control system at that facility?

USDA Response: CCRU work is not included in bid option #5. New FCU's added at CCRU are to be connected to the existing control system at the CCRU under Base Bid.

Question #10: Is the existing JCI Metasys system front-end being reused or being replaced?

USDA Response: Front end controls system to be replaced under Bid Option #5.

Question #11: Will the existing VAV dampers be reused or replaced?

USDA Response: Existing VAV dampers are to be reused under Bid Option #5.
