QUESTIONS and ANSWERS
Site showing – July 23, 2015
1. Q: What is the finished elevation of the riprap in the crossings?
A: As shown in the drawings the maximum elevation of the rock is the same as the elevation of the center of the crossings. If that is not attainable the COR may allow the rock to be slightly (a few tenths) lower.
2. Q: Can we stockpile construction materials off the easement, if it is on property owned by the same landowner?
A: Not unless you develop a separate written agreement with the landowner and provide a copy of it to the Inspector before you begin.
3. Q: Do we have to clear and grub the entire 20 foot area around each crossing?
A: Our goal is to clear as few trees as possible to get the improvements installed. Please refer to Construction Specification 2 for details.
4. Q: Would we provide a Letter of Release for the Contractor to recycle the large non-vegetative debris removed from road crossings like culverts?
A: Yes, we will provide this letter to the contractor after award.
5. Q: Do you have any benchmarks (TBMs) established for this site?
A: Yes, we do. They will be provided to the contractor after award.
6. Q: How should we handle the slag that is removed from the crossing areas?
A: The slag may be placed to fortify the travel way for construction access.
7. Q: Can the Contractor stay on the property in a camper?
A: Only off the easement if you obtain the landowner’s written permission and submit a copy to the NRCS Inspector at least 1 business day before occupancy.
