CXT Installation 01100 - 2 THE POCKET RECREATION AREA
Existing toilet to be removed, sidewalk to be removed, and entry road into area to be widened
PHASE 1:
• Install 460 LF of two rows (920 LF total) of Type C Silt Fence along paved roadway as shown on plans.
Work to be done before any demolition, grading or vegetation removal begins.
• Install Construction Exit that will be 20 feet wide and 100 feet in length, use #4 course aggregate, per detail on plans. Work to be done before any demolition, grading or vegetation removal begins.
• Install 120 LF Tree Save Fence along and 10 feet distant from the Construction Exit on the uphill side of the access roadway. Work to be done before any demolition, grading or vegetation removal begins.
• Widen the gravel access road by approximately 8 additional feet of width on the uphill side of the roadway to existing toilet. The roadway is 120 feet in length. Limb up any remaining trees that overhang this area to a height of 20 feet.
• Clear mid-story and understory vegetation surrounding the toilet building area as directed by COR.
Approximately 0.5 acre will be thinned.
• Strip and stockpile topsoil around the existing toilet building. Topsoil is to be stockpiled to complete final grading of areas.
• Demolish existing toilet building. The building is approximately 8’ x 14’; the interior is polyethylene walls and floor and the exterior is cedar lap & batt with cedar shakes. Remove from FS land.
• Demolish concrete slab surrounding toilet, approximately 20’ x 24’, and 10 additional feet of 5’ wide concrete sidewalk and remove from FS land.
• Pump contents of two existing septic vaults/tanks and clean inside with 10% bleach/water solution.
• Remove and dispose of the two 750 gallon polyethylene vaults/tanks, each 325 pounds. Remove from FS land.
• Backfill hole with soil. Fill material shall be free of brush, rubbish, rocks, logs and stumps. Compact each
12 inch lift of fill and top with 6 inches of topsoil.
• Grade area around toilet to prepare site for the installation of the new toilet.
• Stabilize disturbed areas with mulching only. Organic material from clearing of mid-story and understory vegetation should remain on site and be chipped and applied as mulch if possible. Wood waste should be applied at a depth of 2” to 3” or 6 to 9 ton/acre.
• All disturbed areas shall be left with a neat appropriate temporary protective cover.
PHASE 2:
1. The second phase will not begin until the CXT toilet has been installed by others. Then work can begin on completion of the site improvements.
2. Maintain erosion control measures and Tree Save Fence erosion control measures. Replace if necessary.
3. Construct concrete walkway areas. The toilet building will have 5’wide x 72’ x 4” deep concrete walkway that abuts it on all four sides and an additional 5’wide x 10’ x 4” concrete walkway that adjoins the existing sidewalk. The side walk should have a cross-slope of 2% maximum and a running slope of 5% maximum to make it Accessible.
CXT Installation 01100 - 3 THE POCKET RECREATION AREA

4. Protect concrete from cold or hot weather during mixing, placing, and curing.
F. Evaporation Retarder: Apply to concrete surfaces if hot, dry, or windy conditions cause moisture loss approaching 0.2 lb/sq. ft. x h (1 kg/sq. m x h) before and during finishing operations. Apply according to manufacturers written instructions after plac-ing, screeding, and bull floating or darbying concrete, but
CXT Installation 04751 - 4 THE POCKET RECREATION AREA before float finishing.
3.2 FINISHES AND CURING
A. Float Finish: Begin the second floating operation when bleed-water sheen has disap-peared and the concrete surface has stiffened sufficiently to permit operations. Float surfaces to true planes with gaps below 10-foot- (3-m-) long, unleveled straightedge not to exceed 1/4 inch (6 mm). Cut down high spots, and fill low spots. Refloat sur-face immediately to uniform granular texture.

B. Curing: Begin curing after finishing concrete, but not before free water has disap-peared from concrete surface. Cure concrete by one or a combination of the following methods:
1. Moisture cure concrete by water, continuous fog spray, continuously wet ab-sorptive cover, or by moisture-retaining-cover curing. Keep surfaces conti-nuously moist for not less than seven days.
2. Curing Compound: Apply uniformly in continuous operation by power spray or roller according to manufacturer's written instructions.
