Seeding- Mesic Total Acres = 13.5 See map page 6

Site Preparation:

* Site preparation shall consist of treating existing vegetation present within the seeding area including brush removal in the seeding area and along the perimeter/fenceline of the seeding area. Site preparation techniques to be employed are at the contractor's discretion and may include:

* Mechanical techniques: mowing, disking, haying/baling, excavating, grinding etc.

* Chemical techniques: Chemicals selected shall be appropriate for site and applied according to manufacturer's label.

Chemical methods shall not result in carryover that will negatively effect establishment of native grasses and forbs.

* Conventional tillage-Prepare a fine firm seedbed to a min of 3". Seedbed shall contain enough fine soil particles for uniform shallow coverage of the seed as well as contact with moisture and nutrients.

*Prescribed fire. By accepting an award for this work, contractor acknowledges and accepts full liability for any damages resulting from the implementation of prescribed fire. The contractor will adhere to all applicable state and local laws, ordinances, and regulations. The contractor shall develop a burn plan in accoradance with

Conservation Practice Standard 338. The contractor shall provide the NRCS COR or Representative with a list of experience within the past 3 years to support his/her qualifications to plan and conduct a controlled burn.

* Site preparation shall be considered successfully completed when the average size of surface debris is less than six inches AND surface residue present is less than 25%. These conditions shall exist at time of seeding .

Seed Selection : Area shall be seeded with the following mixes (quantities shown are PLS) :

Mesic Acres = 13.5 See Page 5

Origin of seed must be no greater than 175 miles from project area. Seed shall be true to species, packed separately and labeled with scientific name, PLS weight, common name, percent purity, and percent germination. Seed shall be free of non-seed debris and free of noxious weeds. Seed quantities and quality must be verified by NRCS prior to seeding application.

Substitutions are allowed following guidance shown on page _ _4__.

Seeding Dates : Seeding shall occur within the following window:

* Dormant 2016: November 1, 2016 through Freeze-up

Seeding : Sowing shall be accomplished by the method stated below:

* Drilling: Contractor shall use a specialized native grass drill designed to handle a wide variety of seed and low seed rates.

Plant seed to a depth of 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

Seeding Substitution Guidelines

Post-Seeding Maintenance : (Not to exceed 2 mowings/passes) Post seeding mowings shall occur when height of existing vegetation is approximately 12 inches. Mowing height shall be no lower than 6 inches. Rotary mower is required.

CONTACT NRCS PRIOR TO MOWING

The estimated mowing times (2017): June and August

Allowable Paramaters for Species Substitutions:

- Any species not available may be substituted with another species that has the same Wetland Indicator status

- Any species substituted must be native to the area and meet the 175-mile origin requirement

- Total number of species must be a minimum of:

Mesic Grass/Sedge 10 Forbs 13 Legumes 2

TOTAL 25

- Final Mix (with substitutions) shall meet following requirements:

Mesic

Minimum seeds/sq foot - grasses/sedge 30 Minimum seeds/sq foot - forbs/legumes 15 Minimum Grass/sedge seeding rate (lbs/acre) 7 Minimum Forb seeding rate (oz/acre) 21 Maximum % total grass-sedge seeds/sq foot 70% No forb species shall be >% of total forb seeds/sq ft 20%

If species are substituted from mixes shown on page 5, submission of adherence to the above stated criteria shall be submitted to NRCS prior to commencement of seeding.
