Site Preparation:
* Site preparation shall consist of treating existing vegetation present within the seeding area including tree removal in the seeding area and along the perimeter/fenceline of the seeding area. Site preparation techniques to be employed are at the contractor's discretion and may include:
* Mechanical techniques: mowing, disking, haying/baling, excavating, grinding etc.
* Chemical techniques; Chemicals selected shall be appropriate for site and applied according to manufacturer's label.
chemical methods shall not result in carryover that will negatively effect establishment of native grasses and forbs.
* Conventional tillage-Prepare a fine firm seedbed to a min of 3". Seedbed shall contain enough fine soil particles for uniform shallow coverage of the seed as well as contact with moisture and nutrients.
*Prescribed fire. By accepting an award for this work, contractor acknowledges and accepts full liability for any damages resulting from the implementation of prescribed fire. The contractor will adhere to all applicable state and local laws, ordinances, and regulations. The contractor shall develop a burn plan in accoradance with
Conservation Practice Standard 338. The contractor shall provide the NRCS COR or Representative with a list of experience within the past 3 years to support his/her qualifications to plan and conduct a controlled burn.
* Site preparation shall be considered successfully completed when the average size of surface debris is less than six inches AND surface residue present is less than 25%. These conditions shall exist at time of seeding .
Seed Selection: Area shall be seeded with the following mix (quantities shown are PLS) :
Dry-Drill Acres = 79 See Page 10
Origin of seed must be no greater than 175 miles from project area. Seed shall be true to species, packed separately and labeled with scientific name, PLS weight, common name, percent purity, and percent germination. Seed shall be free of non-seed debris and free of noxious weeds. Seed quantities and quality shall be verified by NRCS prior to seeding application.
Substitutions are allowed following guidance shown on page __ 9__.
Seeding Dates: Seeding shall occur within the following window:
* Dormant 2016: November 1, 2016 through Freeze-up
Seeding: Sowing shall be accomplished by the method stated below:
* Drilling: Contractor shall use a specialized natve grass drill designed to handle a wide variety of seed and low seed rates.
Plant seed to a depth of 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
Post-Seeding Maintenance: (Not to exceed 2 mowings/passes) Post seeding mowings shall occur when height of existing vegetation is approximately 12 inches. Mowing height shall be no lower than 6 inches. Rotary mower is required.

The work described below will not begin until the Prescribed Burn is successfully completed as described on page __12_ of the plan.
Site Evaluation/Final Site Preperation:
*Site evaluation shall occur in the first two weeks of August to determine vegetative response to tree removal and foliar application:
1. The contractor and NRCS shall determine if the proposed seed mixes are the most appropriate or if substitutions are necessary to increase the plant diversity. Substitutions shall not result in an increased seed cost.
2. Final site preparation shall consist of localized grading to ensure a final surface suitable for seeding and maintenance mowing. All existing mounds, hills, or other topographic feature that will prevent maintenance mowing shall be graded to a depth of 6" or less.
3. Seeding method shall be determined by the contractor and NRCS representative after the final site preparation is complete. Drilling is the prefered method if the surface is suitable without additional mechanical cultivation.
Seed Selection : Area shall be seeded with the following mixes (quantities shown are PLS) :
Mesic Acres = 100 See Page 16
Origin of seed must be no greater than 175 miles from project area. Seed shall be true to species, packed separately and labeled with scientific name, PLS weight, common name, percent purity, and percent germination. Seed shall be free of non-seed debris and free of noxious weeds. Seed quantities and quality must be verified by NRCS prior to seeding application.
Substitutions are allowed following guidance shown on page _ 15__.
Seeding Dates : Seeding shall occur within the following window:
* Dormant 2017: November 1, 2017 through Freeze-up
Seeding : Sowing shall be accomplished by any method stated below:
* Drilling: Contractor shall use a specialized native grass drill designed to handle a wide variety of seed and low seed rates.
Plant seed to a depth of 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
* Broadcast: Ensure equipment is properly calibrated. Rake, roll or cultipack immediately after seeding. Do not harrow in the seed.
- Airseeding: Broadcast medium shall be approved by NRCS COR or Representative and shall not contain nitrogen
