Virginia Creeper Trail Bridges 35 & 36 Technical Proposal: Construction Plan Note: Please submit any concerns you have regarding issues not addressed by the plans or specs as questions, in writing, directly to the Contracting Officer, Laura Ingram, at lauraingram@fs.fed.us. Please address the following questions in your construction plan with as much detail as possible. Use no more than a total of 5 pages to respond.
a. Where applicable, describe how your firm proposes to:
i. Reduce project costs;
ii. Minimize trail closure or other interruptions to trail users;
iii. Address environmental controls related to invasive species, sediment transport, etc.
b. What are your intended access plans for delivery of the concrete and the bridge structures? Be as specific as possible about describing the route and how you will bring these materials to the site. How will this impact trail users?
c. Describe your intended construction sequence regarding when abutments will be placed, bridge structures installed, trail reconstructed, and removal of existing structures. How will this impact trail users?
d. Where applicable, describe any alternate construction methods you are considering using.
e. Describe your approach to clearing & grubbing – how will you minimize the clearing of vegetation to maintain an aesthetically pleasing view in the area surrounding the bridges?
f. What equipment (type, size/horsepower, GVW) do you intend to use and how will each piece gain access to the site? How will you move equipment around on the site?
g. Describe your needs for storage and lay down areas for equipment and materials. Be specific about locations of proposed areas and storage procedures.
h. What vendor will you use for supplying the pre-fabricated steel bridge structures? How many bridge sections do you propose for each bridge?
i. What sub-contractors do you contemplate using and what specific construction items will they perform?
