Q&A and Additional Requirements - Site Visit 2/6/17 Bldg. #20 Mechanical/Electrical, Bldg. #1 Electrical

Q&A:

1. Are faxed and email bids acceptable? Emailed, scanned proposals are OK. Faxed are too unwieldy. I have no local fax number (Louise L. Snitz)

2. Due to the time to get pricing, could the bid due date be moved to March 16, 2017? New proposal due date is March 6. Also note: provide further questions no later than February 27. (Louise L. Snitz)

3. What is meant by an EPA air quality permit and what is it needed for? Answer to be provided in next amendment.

4. Print B20-MH-201 key note #2 refers to floor mounted pumps and print B20-M-501 inline pump detail #5 shows the pumps hanging. Floor mounted is correct.

5. Air separator VJR 200 maximum pipe size is 2" the pipe size where the separator is shown is 2 1/2" VSR 2-12 has a size for 2 1/2" pipe. VSR 2-12 is correct since correct Pipe Size is 2 ½”.

6. RTU-2 I don't see any return drop from the unit. RTU-2 is 100% OA since those lab rooms are 100% exhausted through the hoods.

7. What is to be used for the fume hood duct material? Spec Section 23-31-13 details fume hood duct material.

8. With regard to controls, the specifications lists Siemens in base, but that 3 others are acceptable. Does bidder need to provide at least 2 different pricings (manufacturers) for this item? No.

9. What are the cleaning requirements after finishing each area? Is it required to have a cleaning service clean for each lab or office space? Refer to Spec Section 017700 – Closeout Procedures, Part 3 Execution, 3.1 Final Cleaning, and other specs sections as necessary.

10. What are the bathroom requirements? Owner cannot allow multiple contract personnel in owner's facilities. Is contractor to provide their own facilities? Contractor to provide restroom facilities.

11. The specification calls for stainless steel vent for the boiler in building #20. If polypropylene is acceptable to the boiler manufacturer, is it acceptable for the project? Specifications are to be followed.

12. Owner cannot be without ultra cold freezers and walk-in coolers and freezers for more than 8 hours. Do documents indicate that contractor shall provide generator(s)? Yes. Package A Dwgs, Sheet B1-E-401, Keyed Note # 13. This keyed note is hereby included for all ultra cold freezers and walk-in coolers and freezers for Dwg Package A1 and Package A2.

Additional Requirements:

1. Electrical power to Bldg. #1 may be off from noon on Friday to noon on Monday to accomplish the main power equipment replacement work.

2. The Pac Bio room in Bldg. #20 may be off for a maximum of 3 days straight to accomplish work in this area.

3. Bldg. #20 will be vacated for 3 weeks in order for the mechanical and electrical work to be accomplished. During this time, work shall be accomplished such that there will be no other interruptions to the lab and office work in this building.

4. No substitutions will be approved prior to bidding. It is incumbent on the contractor to bid according to the specs and drawings.
