Response to Questions (10/5/2010):

Are we (prospective bidders) allowed to test dig on site to check soil conditions?

Yes, with the knowledge of the Sponsor and the affected landowner (probably Village or Springville Youth Incorporated (SYI)). Any disturbances must be repaired.

Fill for the roadway, if earth fill has to be brought in from off site would it be paid for under item # 5, or included in item # 6.

Any fill brought in for use on the roadway is included in the Linear Foot (L.F.) pay item for the access road, not in the item of fill for grade sills.

The area between the sills ( 5-15 ) shows excavation and fill including both embankments and the creek channel, is this correct?

Yes, the project includes excavation and/or fill at each grade sill. The embankments (5:1 fill areas) on the upstream and downstream sides are comprised of fill and no excavation of existing channel bottom is expected for these areas. Some of the grade sills, as shown on the profile (10-15), likely shall not need any excavation for installation as they shall be entirely on fill.

Also the embankments regraded between the sills are they to be seeded?

No, seeding is not needed within the banks of the channel between grade sills on the fill areas. Only on the sides of channel outside the rock area and above the water line; and all other disturbed areas including the gravel access road. No live stake planting is required on these areas either.
