Sample Design Remarks:
Sample ALL seedling trees at least 0.3’to 4.5’ in height on a 100th acre plot.
Sample ALL saplings with a dbh of 0.0” to 4.9”.
List a maximum of 4 Desirable trees, each on its own line of data. Four desirable trees will stock this plot. Denote these trees with a “D” in the User Determined field.
Skip a line before entering excess trees. Record data for a maximum of 10 live excess trees per plot unless additional tree species, not yet encountered on the plot, exist. List one tree for each new species encountered. Excess trees may be group tallied when tree data is identical. Designate these trees with an “E” in the User Determined field.
Record all dead planted trees and a maximum of 5 dead natural trees. Dead trees will be pulled up, if possible, to determine cause of death, and then spray painted with orange spray paint. Designate dead trees with “DEAD” in the User Determined field
