Work will also include providing noxious weed control.

Construction

907.02 Certification and Measurements – Add the following:

To mitigate the anticipated impacts of spreading noxious weed species, the following precautions will be used:

All equipment and vehicles to be used at the job site will be steam cleaned and free of noxious weeds and their seeds prior to entrance onto Federal lands. The restriction will include equipment and vehicles intended for off-road as well as on-road use, whether they are owned, leased, or borrowed by the Contractor or any subcontractor.

Cleaning will consist of the removal of all dirt, grease, debris and materials that may harbor noxious weeds and their seeds. Cleaning will occur off Federal lands.

Equipment, materials and vehicles will be visually inspected by the Engineer or other designated

Forest Service official at a location agreed to by the Engineer and the Contractor in advance of delivery to the job site. Delivery is expected to proceed directly to the job site.

Equipment that leaves the job site will need to be re-inspected before being allowed to return.

Section 954 – Obliteration of Abandoned Trailways

Description

954.01 Work – Delete this paragraph and replace with the following:

This work consists of obliteration of abandoned trail by constructing drainage structures and placing logs, brush, rock & debris.

954.03 Trail Closure – Delete this paragraph and replace with the following:

Obliterate trailways by placing logs, branches, rocks & debris in the trailway. Place obliteration materials to a thickness and density sufficient to conceal the trailway below and so that raindrops cannot directly impact the soil surface. When there is an eroded channel, place logs of 6 inches minimum diameter longitudinally in the bottom of the eroded channel and in contact with the soil as practically attainable. Use materials from nearby, but do not cut live trees closer than 30 feet from the trailway.

954.04 Drainage Structures – Delete this paragraph and replace with the following:

Construct Native Log Waterbars or Rock Waterbars at intervals of approximately 50 feet on the abandoned trailway. Construct waterbars in accordance with Section 922, except that native logs do not have to be peeled. Use the type of waterbar that best fits the situation & materials available. Check dams are not appropriate – water must be directed off the trailway.

954.05 through 954.08 – Delete these subsections.

Measurement

954.09 Method – Add the following:

Measurement for Obliteration is for all of the work described in this Section including native log and rock waterbars.
