103.01 Intent of Contract. Delete this subsection and replace with the following:
This project is for the removal of an existing corrugated steel culvert on Five Mile Creek and replacing it with a structural-plate open bottom arch culvert on a concrete footing. This project is located in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest on Idaho County Road No. 233 at Mile Post 10.5 in the Red River Ranger District in Section 36, Township 27 North, Range 7 East, in Idaho County, Idaho.
The work includes but is not limited to clearing and grubbing, erosion control measures, structure excavation, roadway embankment, removing and disposing existing culvert, compaction, riprap, roadway surfacing, furnishing and installing precast concrete foundations, furnishing and erecting a structural-plate arch culvert, and all other incidental items necessary to complete the project in accordance with the plans and specifications.
104 - Control of Work
Deletions
Delete Sections 104.01, 104.02, and 104.04.
Add the following subsection:
104.06 Use of Roads by Contractor
The Contractor is authorized to use roads under the jurisdiction of the Forest Service for all activities necessary to complete this contract, subject to the limitations and authorizations designated in the Road Order(s) or described in the contract, when such use will not damage the roads or national forest resources, and when traffic can be accommodated safely.
105 - Control of Material
105.02 Material Sources
Add the following before the first paragraph.
Sources have been designated for this project as follows:
Unclassified Borrow Source – Government Furnished – The Government source for Unclassified Borrow for this project is located at the project site. See the drawings for exact location.
Riprap Source – Contractor Furnished – There is no Government source for Riprap for this project.
Crushed Aggregate Source- Contractor Furnished – There is no Government source for Crushed Aggregate for this project.
Coarse Granular Backfill – Contractor Furnished – There is no available Government source for Coarse Granular Backfill for construction of the geocell abutment stabilization.
Waste Site – Government Furnished – A waste site for excess and unsuitable material will be located at the borrow site or at the site as designated by the CO. This site is to be used for the disposal of unsuitable or excess excavated material only. All other materials designated for removal and disposal must be disposed of away from Forest Land as per SPS Section 202.
Add the following to section (b) Contractor-located sources.
Prior to any pit development or use of materials, the Contractor shall provide to the CO a State certification that the pit site is free of noxious weed as listed on the "All States Noxious Weeds List”.

Design and locate equipment repair shops, stationary refueling sites, or other facilities to minimize the potential and impacts of hazardous material spills on Government land.
Before beginning any work, submit a Hazardous Spill Plan. List actions to be taken in the event of a spill. Incorporate preventive measures to be taken, such as the location of mobile refueling facilities, storage and handling of hazardous materials, and similar information. Immediately notify the CO of all hazardous material spills. Provide a written narrative report form no later than 24 hours after the initial report and include the following:
Description of the item spilled (including identity, quantity, manifest number, and other identifying information).
Whether amount spilled is EPA or state reportable, and if so whether it was reported, and to whom.
Exact time and location of spill including a description of the area involved.
Containment procedures.
Summary of any communications the Contractor had with news media, Federal, state and local regulatory agencies and officials, or Forest Service officials.
Description of clean-up procedures employed or to be employed at the site including final disposition and disposal location of spill residue.
When available provide copies of all spill related clean up and closure documentation and correspondence from regulatory agencies.
The Contractor is solely responsible for all spills or leaks that occur during the performance of this contract. Clean up spills or leaks to the satisfaction of the CO and in a manner that complies with Federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
108 - Prosecution and Progress

109.10 Methods of Measurement

(b) Contract Quantities (CQ). As defined in 109.02 (b) and supplemented above.
(c) Lump Sum Quantities (LSQ). These quantities denote one complete unit of work as required by or described in the contract, including necessary materials, equipment, and labor to complete the job.
151 - Mobilization
151.01 Description
Add the following at the end of the last sentence:
“Work also includes cleaning of all equipment used at the project site. Clean all construction equipment prior to entry on the project site. Remove all dirt, plant parts and material that may carry noxious weed seeds into the area. Only construction equipment inspected by the Forest Service will be allowed to operate within the project area. Treat subsequent move-ins of equipment the same as the initial move-in. Clean truck beds and dump boxes hauling to the project site prior to entering the work area. Contractor shall give the Forest Service at least 24 hours advance notification when equipment is ready for inspection. Location for inspection shall be as agreed.”
“Work also includes the removal of all logs and windfall from within the roadway.”
A preliminary construction schedule shall be submitted 7 days prior to the preconstruction meeting.
152 – Construction Survey and Staking

156.03 Accommodating Traffic During Work.
Delete the first paragraph and replace with the following:
Accommodate traffic according to the requirements set forth below, MUTCD, and Section 635.
Submit a traffic control plan for acceptance at least 14 days before intended use.
Add the following project specific requirements:
The Contractor will not be allowed to close County Road No. 233 to public traffic during the culvert replacement construction work. Construct and remove a Detour Road as specified in the project drawings, and in Section 680 of the Forest Service Supplemental Specifications to allow public traffic to be maintained around the site for the duration of construction activities.
Upon written request, the contractor will be allowed limited full road closures up to a maximum period of four (4) hours. Requests for road closures must be submitted to the CO at least two weeks prior to the closure.
Develop a construction sign plan identifying the type and location of all advanced warning signs necessary to safely restrict or pass public traffic. The traffic control plan must include provisions to safely accommodate and guide public traffic on the detour road at all hours of the day. Install construction signs conforming to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) prior to proceeding with any construction work. Furnish, maintain and remove all barricades and signs required for construction signing.
It is the responsibility of the Contractor to schedule delivery of materials, equipment and all necessary supplies to the site, to ensure that the culvert can be substantially completed within the specified contract time.
The Contractor shall be responsible for providing, installing, maintaining, and removal of warning signs and barricades required for the road closure period in accordance with MUTCD as submitted and approved in the traffic control plan.
Delete the following from the last sentence of the last paragraph:
according to Subsection 106.07(b)

157 - Soil Erosion Control
157.02 Materials
Add the following:
Provide bales, wattles, logs and rolls from a certified noxious weed free source.
157.03 General.
Delete the first two paragraphs and replace with the following:
Submit a Dewatering and Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan detailing permanent and temporary control measures to minimize erosion and sedimentation during and after construction in accordance with the plans and storm water permits. Do not modify the type, size, or location of any control or practice without approval. Submit the erosion control plan proposal at least 7 days before operations begin to the CO for approval.
Reflect in the Dewatering and Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan special concerns and measures necessary to protect resources and government improvements. Include:
(a) The construction activities and sequence of implementation relating to specific erosion control measures.
(b) The location and type of permanent controls to be implemented during construction.
(c) The location and type of temporary controls to be implemented during construction.
(d) For work in stream channels with running water, including construction of the temporary detour road, a detailed dewatering plan,.
(e) For work in stream channels without flowing water describe level of ground and vegetative disturbance and measures to reduce potential sediment delivery.
(f) Description of the monitoring plan.
Add the following to the third paragraph:
Upon completion of construction at the site, remove all temporary erosion control devices, dewatering materials and equipment from Government property.
157.08 Water Crossings.
Add the following:
At any channel crossing where there is running water, dewater by rerouting water flow around the site before and during excavation and embankment operations.
201 – Clearing and Grubbing
Construction Requirements
201.06 Disposal. Delete this subsection and substitute the following:
Dispose of construction slash by either scattering outside the clearing limits without damaging trees, or by placing on embankment slopes to reduce soil erosion. When placing slash on embankment slopes start at the toe of the fill and place as flat as practicable on the completed slope.
Merchantable timber is the Government’s property. Limb and deck merchantable timber on site as directed by the CO.
Measurement
201.08. Delete this subsection and replace with the following:
“Do not measure clearing and grubbing for payment.”
Payment
201.09. Delete this subsection and replace with the following:
“Payment for clearing and grubbing is incidental to Section 204 items.”
203 - Removal of Structures and Obstructions
203.05 Disposing of Material.
Modify this subsection as follows:
(a) Remove from project. Add the following:
All materials designated for removal become the property of the Contractor and are to be disposed of by removing off of Forest Service Lands in accordance with all local, state and federal requirements.
(b) Burn. Delete this section.
(c) Bury. Delete this section.
Add the following:
(e) Placing Slash on Embankment Slopes. Place construction slash on completed embankment slopes or scatter as directed by the CO to reduce soil erosion. Place construction slash as flat as practicable on the completed slope. Priority for use of available slash is for: (1) through fills; (2) insides of curves; and (3) ditch relief outlets. All slash material not suitable for embankment slopes shall be disposed of off Forest Service Lands in accordance with all local, state and federal requirements or as approved by the CO.
204 - Excavation and Embankment
204.13 Sloping, Shaping, and Finishing.
Delete section (d) and add the following:
(d) Finishing. Remove all material larger than 6 inches from the top 6 inches of the roadbed.
Finish the roadbed to be smooth and uniform, and shaped to conform to the typical sections.
Remove unsuitable material from the roadbed and replace it with suitable material.
Ensure that the subgrade is visibly moist during shaping and dressing. Bring low sections, holes, cracks, or depressions to grade with suitable material. Maintain proper ditch drainage.
204.14 Disposal of Unsuitable or Excess Material.
Delete the text of the first paragraph and substitute the following:
Dispose of unsuitable or excess material at designated sites approved by the CO. Place unsuitable or excess material in low spots/ holes at the waste site and shape material to a uniform surface and slope to drain.
204.16 (e) Waste. Delete this paragraph
208 - Structure Excavation and Backfill for Selected Major Structures
208.02 Add the following:
Backfill material 704.03
208.04 General.
Add the following:
Use all suitable material in the construction of the roadway embankment and for backfill. Field drain and dry excessively wet material that is otherwise suitable for embankment before placement. Place and shape unsuitable or excess material at designated sites shown on the drawings or as directed by the CO.
Submit an Excavation Plan for approval prior to beginning the work. As a minimum, the Excavation Plan must include: drawings and a written outline illustrating and describing the proposed excavation limits, methods, equipment to be used, location of stockpiles, and estimated quantities. The Excavation Plan must comply with all applicable OSHA requirements and list the soil type assumed.
208.10 Backfill.
Delete the first sentence and replace with the following:
Backfill with material meeting the requirements of Subsection 704.03, Backfill Material.
251 - Riprap
251.01 Description
Delete the first sentence and add the following:
This work consists of furnishing, hauling, and placing of riprap for bank protection, slope protection, drainage structures, erosion control, and other features shown on the plans.
Add the following:
251.04a Grade Control Structure.
Furnish riprap in accordance with FSSS 105 and as shown on the drawings. Place or rearrange individual rocks by mechanical methods to obtain a shape as shown on the drawings.
Fill all voids left during placement of grade control structures adjacent to concrete footings or corrugate pipes with excess structural excavation material.
All grade control structure locations must be approved by the CO prior to excavation or placement of rock.
251.07 Acceptance
Delete the fourth sentence and add the following:
Structure excavation and backfill will be evaluated under section 208.
272 - Geocell Abutment Stabilization
Description
272.01 This work consists of constructing geocell abutment stabilization at each precast concrete footing using a cellular confinement system such as Presto Geoweb Cellular Confinement System or Webtec TerraCell in accordance with the plans and manufacturers recommendations.
Materials
272.02 Requirements. Ensure that material conforms to specifications in the following subsections:
Granular Backfill Type (c) 703.03 Geotextile, Type IV (A, B, C) 714.01 Geocell 736
Construction Requirements
272.03 General. Perform the work specified in Section 208 or 209. Use ditches, grading or similar methods to prevent surface runoff that may occur during inclement weather from ponding in the foundation excavation.
272.04 Storage and Handling of Material. During shipment and storage, wrap geotextile materials in heavy-duty protective covering. Protect the material from mud, soil, dust, debris and sunlight prior to installation.
272.05 Geotextile Installation. Place the geotextile according to Section 207. Have the surface approved by the CO prior to placing geotextile.
Sew or overlap adjacent strips a minimum of 12” at joints. Insert securing pins through both strips of overlapped geotextile at minimum intervals of 3 feet, but no closer than 2 inches to each edge, to prevent the geotextile from being displaced.
Have the installed geotextile approved by the CO prior to setting the geocells.
272.06 Geocell Installation. Furnish the CO with product literature and certification as required in Section 106.03 for review and approval 7 days prior to installation. When requested by the CO, furnish a sample of the geocell from each lot for verification testing.
Place the geocell sections directly on the prepared subgrade. Expand the geocell sections into position at the grades and lines as shown on the plans. Hold the expanded geocell sections with suitable “stretcher frames”, steel stakes driven inside selected outer cell walls, or other similar methods as allowed by the manufacturer prior to filling. Ensure that the individual cells have expanded to the minimum dimensions required by the manufacturer. If necessary field cut sections as per the manufacturer’s recommendations to the lines shown on the plans.
Connect geocell panels in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
272.07 Infill Placement. Furnish the CO with the manufacturer’s specific recommendations for backfilling 7 days prior to placement of the geocells.
Place coarse granular backfill meeting Subsection 703.03 into the expanded cells with equipment appropriate for the site conditions such as a backhoe or a front-end loader. Do not drop infill material more than 3 feet to avoid damage or displacement of the cell walls.
Overfill the geocell cells and level to a minimum of 2 inches above the top of the cell walls. A front-end loader may be used to place the infill provided that it only traffics above geocell sections that have been filled and covered with the minimum 2 inches of additional material.
Compact the infill material with a vibratory plate compacter. Operate compaction equipment over the full width of the geocell. Make at least three complete passes or until visible deformation of the infill ceases. Grade the surface to be ½ inch above the top of the cells.
Ensure that the cell walls are not exposed after fine grading is completed.
Use the geocell manufacturer’s specific recommendations for backfilling if they are more stringent than stated above.
272.08 Acceptance. Geotextile will be evaluated under Subsections 106.02 and 714.01.
Material for geocell will be evaluated under Subsections 106.2 and 106.03.
Granular backfill material will be evaluated under Section 106.02 and 106.04.
Measurement
272.09 Method. Measure the items listed in the bid schedule according to Subsection 109.02 and the following.
Measure geocell by the square yard in place, exclusive of wastage.
Payment
272.10 Basis. The accepted quantities will be paid for at the contract price per unit of measurement for the Section 272 pay items listed in the bid schedule. Payment will be full compensation for the work prescribed in this Section. See Subsection 109.05.
The cost for furnishing and placing the granular backfill required in Sections 207, 208, and 209 for geocell infill is incidental to this pay item and no separate payment will be made.
The cost for furnishing and placing geotextile for the geocell installation is incidental to this pay item and no separate payment will be made.
308 - Minor Crushed Aggregate
Delete section 308 in its entirety and replace with the following:
308.01 This work consists of placing Government furnished aggregate or furnishing and placing crushed aggregate for bedding, backfill and roadway aggregate course.
Material
308.02 Conform to the following Subsections:

Construction Requirements
308.03 Preparing Surface. Prepare the roadway surface on which aggregate course is placed as shown on the plans.
Submit crushed aggregate material gradation to the CO for approval.
308.04 Placing Crushed Aggregate.
(a) Roadway aggregate. Mix the aggregate and adjust the moisture content to obtain a uniform mixture with a moisture content suitable for compaction. Spread and shape the mixture on the prepared surface in a uniform layer.
Do not place the mixture in a layer exceeding 6 inches in compacted thickness. When more than one layer is necessary, compact each layer according to Subsection 308.05(a) before placing the next layer.
(b) Bedding and backfill aggregate. Place and shape the mixture in layers that, when compacted, do not exceed 6 inches in depth.
308.05 Compacting and Finishing Crushed Aggregate.
(a) Roadway aggregate. Compact using the methods below, specified in the Schedule of Items.
Compaction E. Roller Compaction. Adjust the moisture content to a level suitable for compaction. Operate Rollers over the full width of each layer until visual displacement ceases, but not fewer than three complete passes. Use rollers that meet the following requirements:
(1) Steel wheeled rollers, other than vibratory, capable of exerting a force of not less than 250 pounds per inch of width of the compression roll or rolls.
(2) Vibratory steel wheeled rollers equipped with amplitude and frequency controls with a minimum weight of 6 tons, specifically designed to compact the material on which it is used.
(3) Pneumatic-tired rollers with smooth tread tires of equal size that will provide a uniform compacting pressure for the full width of the roller and capable of exerting a ground pressure of at least 80 psi.
(4) Sheepsfoot, tamping, or grid rollers capable of exerting a force of 250 lbs/inch of width of roller drum.
(b) Bedding and backfill aggregate. Compact in 6 inch lifts by using a Forest Service approved mechanical compactor until no visible deformation is observed over the entire area of aggregate.
308.06 Acceptance. Crushed aggregate will be evaluated under Subsections 106.02 and 106.03.
Furnish a production certification including gradation and quality properties for each source.
Construction of roadway aggregate courses will be evaluated under Subsections 106.02 and
106.04. Method 2 compaction will be evaluated under Section 106.04.
Placement of bedding and backfill aggregate will be evaluated under Subsection 106.02 and Section 209.
Preparation of the surfaces on which crushed aggregate is placed will be evaluated under Section 303 and 209 as applicable.
Measurement
308.07 Measure the Section 308 items listed in the bid schedule according to Subsection 109.02 and the following as applicable.
Measure crushed aggregate by the ton in-place on the road.
Measure width horizontally to include the top of aggregate width including designed widenings.
Measure the length horizontally along the centerline of the roadway.
Payment
308.08 The accepted quantities will be paid at the contract price per unit of measurement for the Section 308 pay item listed in the bid schedule. Payment will be full compensation for the work prescribed in this Section. See Subsection 109.05.
553A – Precast Concrete Structures
553A.01 Work. Construct precast concrete members. In addition, manufacture, test materials for, transport, store, and install all precast concrete portions except piling, and perform all necessary grouting, welding, or other connections. Furnish precast concrete members complete and in place, including all concrete reinforcing steel and incidentals connected therewith.

Submit a copy of the transmittal letter of the latest PCI, NPCA, or ACPA inspection/certification with the shop drawings.
In lieu of the above certifications, Contractor shall retain a professional engineer to provide quality assurance for the work by inspecting and certifying in writing the concrete members are constructed in accordance to the specification and shall include but not limited to:
a) Shop drawing review.
b) Concrete member dimensions.
c) Concrete mix design.
d) Aggregate sources and test results.
e) Steel reinforcing placement.
f) Concrete curing and strength test results.
g) Concrete material certifications.
h) Placement mixing, delivery and sampling.
Certification of the above shall be received by the CO prior to shipment and installation at the job site.
Perform all sampling, testing, and inspection necessary to ensure quality control of the component materials and the concrete. Sample and test for quality control and acceptance testing in accordance with the AASHTO or ASTM test methods prescribed in Section 552.
Maintain adequate records of all inspections and tests. Keep records that indicate the nature and number of observations made, the number and type of deficiencies found, the quantities approved and rejected, and the nature of any corrective action taken.
Construction
553A.03 Performance. Construct precast concrete structural members in accordance with the following sections and subsections, as applicable:

553A.04 Casting Yard. The precasting of concrete structural members may be done at either a casting yard of an precast industry certified plant or a casting yard of the Contractor’s choice with the appropriate certifications discussed above.
553A.05 Handling, Transporting, & Erecting. Provide additional reinforcement, as needed, to meet the requirements of handling, transporting, and erecting precast members.
553A.06 Acceptance. Reinforcing steel, anchor devices, elastomeric bearings, and material for concrete and grout will be evaluated under Subsection 106.03. Furnish production certifications for hydraulic cement, and reinforcing steel.
Concrete for precast concrete members will be evaluated under Subsections 106.02, 106.03, and 106.04.
Construction of precast concrete members will be evaluated under Subsections 106.02 and 106.04.
Reinforcing steel will be evaluated under Section 554.
Falsework and forms will be evaluated under Section 562.

Equipment shall be no more than 15 years old and shall be reasonably free of leaks and other mechanical deficiencies.
622.04 & 622.05 Measurement and Payment.

Adjustment of contract prices as described in FAR 52.211-18 Variation in Estimated Quantities shall not apply to Section 622…. The government reserves the right to reduce or eliminate entirely the work under this item with no adjustment in the contract unit price.

Seed Certification Certified, blue-tagged seed shall be used where a name variety or cultivar is specified. Blue tags that are removed to mix or spread the seed will be saved and provided to the Forest.
All seed purchased will be certified free of seeds from weeds listed on the current "All States Noxious Weeds List."
Pounds of seed to be furnished per acre shall be obtained by dividing the pounds of pure live seed required per acre by the product of the percent purity and percent germination.
Example: (5 lbs. pure live seed/acre) = 6.55 lbs.
(0.90 x 0.85) commercial seed/acre where: purity = 90%; germination = 85%.
680 – Detour Road
680.01
This work consists of constructing, maintaining, and removing the detour roadway and temporary culvert (Contractor supplied) as shown on the plans.
This work includes clearing and grubbing, removing and replacing topsoil, excavating, embankment, grading, and temporary surfacing. This work also consists of installing a temporary culvert, as shown on the plans, maintaining the detour culvert during construction of the new culvert structure. Installation of the temporary culvert includes excavation and backfill as required. It also includes removing the temporary culvert and reshaping all ground slopes back to their original condition when the detour is no longer needed, seeding and mulching disturbed areas, as well as any incidental work necessary to complete and remove the detour roadway.

Construction Requirements
680.03 General. Construct the detour road alignments to the lines and grades as shown on the plans. Remove the detour roadway and all roadway materials from the project upon completion of the permanent culvert structure. Materials may be incorporated into the permanent roadway if approved by the CO. Reshape the ground under the detour lines to their present contours;
replace conserved topsoil, seed and mulch.
Furnish and install temporary traffic control devices per Section 635 of the specifications, and in accordance with the Contractor’s Traffic Control Plan. Minimum requirements for traffic control signage are shown in the drawings.
Perform excavation, backfill, and embankment work under Sections 204 and 208. Dispose of all debris resulting from operations in accordance with Section 203.
The detour road must have a minimum width and a maximum grade as shown in the plans.
Surfacing will not be required. Provide erosion control measures to prevent runoff from the surface entering directly into the stream.
680.04 Performance.
A contractor-furnished culvert is be used for the detour culvert. Contractor is responsible for sizing the temporary culvert to sustain stream conditions during the time of construction. Install, maintain, and remove the detour culvert so that no approach fill enters the stream. Perform any in-stream work required to construct the detour culvert during the allowed in-stream work period.
680.05 Acceptance.
Detour roadway, including construction and temporary culvert placement, will be evaluated under Subsection 106.02 and 106.04.
Measurement
680.07 Method. Excavation and embankment for the detour road will not be measured.
Payment
680.08
Construction, maintenance, and subsequent removal of the detour road and culvert will be paid at the contract price per unit of measurement for the Section 680 pay items listed in the bid schedule. Payment will be full compensation for the work prescribed in this Section. See Subsection 109.05.
703 - Aggregate
703.03 Granular Backfill.

Add the following section:
725.40 High-Strength Nonshrink Grout
Furnish grout that is packaged and ready for use with the addition of water at the construction site. Ensure that each bag is stamped to show the last date on which it may be used. Use grout that consists of a hydraulic cementitious system, graded and processed natural fine aggregate, and additional technical components such that the product meets the following conditions:
(a) Free of inorganic accelerators, including chlorides.
(b) Free of oxidizing catalysts.
(c) Free of gas-producing agents.
(d) When mixed to 130 percent flow on flow table (ASTM C 230 at 10 drops), it does not reduce in linear dimension when tested in accordance with ASTM C157.
Take measurements at 72 hours and 7 days.
(e) Produces no bleeding for the first 2 hours after mixing when mixed to 130 percent flow on flow table (ASTM C 230 at 10 drops), as tested in accordance with
ASTM C232.
(f) Has a minimum strength as follows when tested in accordance with ASTM C 109:
(1) After 72 hours, 25 MPa (3500 psi).
(2) At 7 days, 40 MPa (6000 psi).
(3) After 28 days, 50 MPa (7200 psi).
Provide performance characteristics at 115 to 120 percent flow on flow table (ASTM C 230 at 10 drops).
(g) It must be designed, as stated by the manufacturer, to be mixed, placed, and cured at atmospheric temperatures of 5O C to 30O C (40O F to 85O F). Submit products proposed for use for approval by the CO and accompany them with manufacturer’s submittals substantiating all requirements in this subsection, including graphs or charts showing the time, temperature, and humidity requirements for curing to achieve the specified grout strengths; and recommendations for storage, mixing, application, and curing procedures.
As specified as grout on the contract plans, the following products meet the above requirements.
1. MASTERFLOW 928 GROUT, manufactured by Chemrex.
2. CRYSTEX GROUT, manufactured by L&M Construction Chemicals, Inc.
3. CEMENT ALL, manufactured by CTS Cement Manufacturing Co.
4. SURE-GRIP HIGH PERFORMANCE GROUT manufactured by Dayton Superior.
725.41 Mortar
Furnish mortar that is packaged and ready for use with the addition of water at the construction site. Ensure that each bag is stamped to show the latest date on which it may be used. Use mortar that consists of a cementitious system made up of:
(a) Natural aggregate, 3/8” maximum size, that meets the requirements specified in ASTM C 33 except for grading. Accomplish grading by blending sieve sizes to obtain the optimum density.
(b) Metallic aggregate free from nonferrous material, soluble alkaline compounds, and visible rust.
(c) Water reducers, workability agents, air-entraining agents, and catalysts.
Blend the materials to minimize bleeding, increase workability, resist exposure to freeze-thaw cycles and deicing salts, and prevent shrinkage within and at the perimeter of the patch, keyway, or other area to be filled.
Ensure that the minimum compressive strength of the mortar, as tested by ASTM C 109 for a 3” slump, is:

Submit products proposed for use to the CO for approval, and accompany them with the manufacturer’s submittals substantiating all requirements in this section, including (1) graphs or charts showing the time, temperature, humidity, and curing requirements to achieve mortar strengths equal to the adjacent concrete; and (2) complete recommendations for storage, mixing, application, and curing procedures.
As specified as mortar on the contract plans, the following products meet the above requirements.
1. EMACO T425 or T430, manufactured by Chemrex.
2. RAPID SET DOT REPAIR MIX manufactured by CTS Cement Manufacturing Co.
3. SURE-GRIP HIGH PERFORMANCE GROUT (when extended with pea gravel) manufactured by Dayton Superior .
736 - Geocell
736.01 Geocell.
Furnish geocell material consisting of sheet strips fabricated from high-density polyethylene (H.D.P.E.), connected in series at off-set, full-depth ultrasonic seams aligned perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the strips. When expanded, the interconnected strips form the walls of a flexible, three-dimensional cellular confinement structure into which the specified infill material is placed.
736.02 Requirements. Furnish geocells consisting of polyethylene material treated to resist ultraviolet degradation and conforming to the requirements shown in table 736-1.
