GLADE CREEK TRAILS – CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1) Puncheon 932(02) – Pre-drill holes in decking, stringers, sills and curbs. Also pre-drilled holes will be treated with government supplied preservative. For decking there will be 6 spikes total – 2 per stringer.
2) Install a trail dip on Trail 791A 20’ south of the puncheon in a small gully. Payment will be incidental to Excavation.
3) Install 2 rolling dips on Trail #791 as staked at STA 7+70 the other at STA 10+70. Payment will be incidental to Trail Restoration.
4) Trail 791, Station 25+95 at the downhill edge of Road 5670. At this point begin a 60’ fill section as staked. The intent is to maintain a 5% grade for 60 feet as the trail approaches the road from below. An estimated 27 yards of native fill material and rocks need to be hauled to the site from either designated pit. Do not excavate the fill slope on Road 5670. Compact native fill material in 1 foot layers as the approach is constructed. This approach section can initially be constructed wider than 48” so as to allow the passage of equipment. Narrow the tread closer to 48” when finishing. Payment will be incidental to Excavation.
5) A log bench will be installed at each of the four turnouts. The benches are fully constructed. They are too heavy to carry to the turnouts by hand. They can be transported by machine using a raised bucket and sling or can be hauled to the turnouts by trail-width trailer. The benches will be placed to one side of the turnout – not centered.
6) Blackfoot Telephone will be called three days before digging between STA 25+25 & STA 25+65. The phone number is posted on a pedestal at the site. The line is most likely buried 4 foot deep.
7) At either puncheon location, only with COR approval, permission may be given to construct a temporary corduroy trail structure. The corduroy would be used before the puncheon is built to allow machinery to pass through the wet area. The corduroy would be placed with the travelway (not to the side).
