Text version
The out to out lengths of the curb rail sections are 8’-7” and 9’-0”, but that isn’t all timber. See curb member detail on sheet 7 of the plans.
The 8’-7” rail has a 4’-7” solid 6”x6” section with a 2’ long section that is half depth on both ends, essentially making it an 6’-7” ‘solid’ member.
The 9’-0” rail has a 7’-0” solid 6”x6” section with ONE 2’ long section that is half depth, essentially making it an 8’-0” ‘solid’ member.
They compute as such. (30) x .5’ x.5’ x 79” = 592.5 BF = .592 MBF
(4) x .5 x .5’ x 96” = 96 BF = .096 MBF
There is a typo on the bill of materials though – drawings are correct. The Curb blocks are listed as 2” thickness, whereas they should be 3” thickness. The Quantity shown is correct, but the description is wrong.
These compute to (36) x .5’ x .25’ x 24” = 108 BF = .108 MBF
Total MBF for Curbs is 0.592+0.096+0.108 =.796 MBF
Schedule B does include more hardware than is needed for the project in case of loss during repair of the bridge.
