CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS:
1. Clarification regarding Spec 084313 Q: Please verify if all framing should be non-thermal as indicated in spec section 084313 or they should all be thermal framing A: Refer to Addendum No. 2, Architectural Item 4. The modification to section 084313 changing the 4-1/8”, 4-1/2” and 6” storefront from nonthermal to thermal should address this question.
2. Fenestration Type E Q: Please note that due to the 21’-0” height of frame type “E” that it will need to be curtain wall in lieu of 4 ½” curtain wall.
A: Refer to detail C/A703 which denotes that the storefront system above 11’-5”+/- AFF is not exposed to outside elements and allows for multiple points of attachment. Only the interior face for the storefront system above 11’-5” +/- AFF is visible. In lieu of curtain wall the storefront system will go from 4-1/2” system to 6” system per Addendum No. 2, Architectural Item 5.
3. SG1 Clarification Q: Please verify makeup of glass type SG1. Drawings call for it to be ¼” spandrel glass.
Spec section 088000 calls it to be 1” Insulated Acid etched glass with spandrel on 4th surface.
A: Refer to 088000 for glass makeup and Addendum No. 2, Architectural Item 6 for clarification.
4. Electrical Floor Boxes
Q: Demo note 7 on sheet D101 is in reference to the electrical floor boxes. Is the intent to remove the boxes, wiring and circuits and abandon the conduits in the floor slab, or does the floor slab need to be cut up to remove the conduits as well?
A: See Addendum No. 2, Architectural Item 7 for clarification.
5. Terrazzo Floor
Q: The 1/8” terrazzo divider strips are specified as Zinc and the ½” terrazzo divider strips are specified as Brass. Is this correct? Is the entire floor one color, or are there multiple colors of terrazzo? If there are multiple colors, we need to know how many colors. We need some kind of guidance on the type of aggregate to be used, as prices vary dramatically.
A: Refer to Addendum No. 2, Architectural Items 2 and 3. The modification to section 096623 and addition of sheet note “20” address these concerns.
6. Electrical Inspection for Contract Compliance Q: Please clarify the Specification 26 00 00 -1.19 ELECTRICAL INSPECTION FOR CONTRACT COMPLIANCE “The contractor shall be responsible for obtaining and coordination of required electrical inspections any fees and charges associated with the inspections will be paid for by the owner. Inspections shall be made by a State Electrical Inspector Certified by the authority having jurisdiction. The contractor shall furnish the Engineer and Owner a copy of the Electrical Certificate of approval before final payment will be made.
A: Refer to General Conditions, section 10 Survey, Permits, Fees, Notices and Tests subsection 10.4.1. This will override Specification Section 260000 Subsection 1.19 regarding this matter only.
