About this file
This is Addendum Two to Invitation to Bid No. RFB-41-27 issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Facilities and Support Services, Division of Engineering and Contract Administration, for the East Bound Renovation D-9 project at a rest area facility located at I-64 East, Mile Marker 173.5, in Carter County, Kentucky. The addendum was issued on August 12, 2026, and pertains to renovation work being managed by the Carter County Department of Transportation. The project is designed by Gallagher Office of Architecture, LLC, and is funded through Account No. 625-CBZU-Z001-54. Bidders must acknowledge receipt of this addendum on the Form of Proposal as it becomes binding upon the contract to be issued.
The primary clarification in Addendum Two concerns floor finishing work in the Women 4 and Men 5 restroom areas. The addendum deletes the specification requiring removal of existing floor tile and clarifies that floor tile in these areas may remain in place. Contractors are directed to refer to MMA manufacturer's written documentation for proper preparation of existing tile substrates, with typical preparation involving abrasive scuffing to promote adhesion of the new MMA resinous coating system. However, concrete slabs in both the Women 4 and Men 5 areas will require removal and replacement to the extent necessary to accommodate replacement of below-slab plumbing systems.
